Transfer news LIVE! Arsenal chase Pino; Chelsea eye £43m Gordon, Aubameyang bid; Tottenham latest
Transfer news LIVE!
Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham all remain on the lookout for key new signings as we get closer and closer to the summer transfer deadline. Arsenal are chasing Villarreal youngster Yeremy Pino, with a move for Youri Tielemans looking increasingly unlikely before the September 1 deadline. The Gunners could opt to try and sign the Belgian for free next summer.
Chelsea are among the busiest clubs in Europe, with Anthony Gordon reportedly a major target. Frenkie de Jong is said to prefer a move to Stamford Bridge over Manchester United in a huge boost to Thomas Tuchel. They have also had an initial bid turned down by Barcelona for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the Blues set to make a fresh play for Leicester’s Wesley Fofana this week.
Destiny Udogie is set to undergo a Tottenham medical after being omitted from Udinese’s latest squad, but links to Nicolo Zaniolo have gone cold. Manchester United, meanwhile, are pressing to sign Adrien Rabiot after being embarrassed by Brentford and could also swoop for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Mauro Icardi, among others.

Sunday 14 August 2022 13:10 , Matt Verri
Manchester United continue to push to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
The Times report that United are making progress with Rabiot’s mother, his agent, over personal terms, though it’s suggested elsewhere that the demands of £160,000-a-week could be a problem.
Erik ten Hag is believed to be unwilling to sanction further signings at this stage, worried it would leave the club unable to seal a move for top target Frenkie de Jong.
Arsenal could wait for Tielemans
Sunday 14 August 2022 12:53 , Matt Verri
Arsenal could opt to try and sign Youri Tielemans on a free next summer.
The Leicester midfielder has entered the final 12 months of his contract and the Gunners continue to be linked with him.

The 19-year-old is due to travel to England in the coming days to undergo a medical and complete his move to Spurs, before returning to Udinese on loan for the rest of the season.

Sunday 14 August 2022 11:33 , George Flood
For all the focus on the here and now with the trio of Wesley Fofana, Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Chelsea also continue to plan for the future.
Having already secured some top young talent in the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina, the Blues are now pushing hard for Cesare Casadei.
Chelsea have already failed with an opening bid for the Inter Milan starlet, considered one of the best young midfield talents in Serie A and an Italy Under-19 international.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a new bid will be made this week after further talks were scheduled with the Nerazzurri hierarchy.
Newcastle line up £40m Gallagher swoop
Sunday 14 August 2022 10:44 , George Flood
Conor Gallagher is being lined up for a move to Newcastle.
The England midfielder is currently back at Chelsea trying to prove his worth to Thomas Tuchel, who has urged him to fight for his place after shining on loan at Crystal Palace last term.
While Gallagher did make his competitive Chelsea debut in the win over Everton on opening weekend, he played just a single minute off the bench at Goodison Park.
Now The Sun report that Newcastle have made the 22-year-old their No1 target before the September 1 transfer deadline and want to convince Chelsea to sell in a £40m deal, having potentially admitted defeat in their quest for Leicester’s James Maddison.
Klopp: Liverpool won’t be drawn into transfer deals
Sunday 14 August 2022 10:16 , George Flood
Jurgen Klopp claims he is unfazed by the sustained transfer push from Liverpool’s Premier League rivals, insisting the Reds will not be drawn into striking further high-profile deals just for the sake of it.
Darwin Nunez is Liverpool’s only headline outlay so far this summer, while youngsters Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay have also arrived at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal have all strengthened significantly and continue to look for major signings before the deadline on September 1.
“There is absolutely no joy that they still try; other teams have finished their business as well. It’s nothing to do with us,” Klopp said ahead of Monday night’s clash with Crystal Palace.
“We cannot increase the rhythm or find money because other teams sign players and say ‘oh, now we have to do as well because they signed him, we now need him’.
“You have to be completely independent of whatever, whoever, is doing what - and we are.
“We tried to sort our situation, which is difficult enough, but it is our situation at least and the only situation in which we are influential and the only one I am concerned about.”
Mauro Icardi eager for Man United move
Sunday 14 August 2022 09:36 , George Flood
One player who is definitely open to a move to Manchester United, according to reports, is Mauro Icardi.
The Argentine striker appears surplus to requirements at Paris Saint-Germain under new head coach Christophe Galtier and has apparently been told that he can leave before the deadline as he trains away from the senior squad.
Icardi has been tentatively linked with a switch to Old Trafford - who hasn’t at this point? - as Erik ten Hag desperately targets attacking reinforcements this month.
TyC Sports in Argentina now claim that the former Inter Milan marksman would be very open to joining United and also has interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Chelsea handed key De Jong boost
Sunday 14 August 2022 09:17 , George Flood
Chelsea appear to have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong.
The Blues have long since joined Manchester United in the battle to sign the Dutch international, who has been in dispute with Barcelona over deferred salary payments.
De Jong has been at the centre of one of this summer window’s most lengthy and frankly tedious transfer sagas, but could the end now finally be in sight?
The Telegraph report that the 25-year-old has indicated a preference to join Chelsea over United in a hammer blow to Erik ten Hag’s hopes.
However, rival claims from Catalan outlet Sport suggest he is now coming around to the possibility of reuniting with Ten Hag at Old Trafford! What to believe?!
Like Aubameyang, De Jong was restricted to a substitute cameo for Barcelona against Rayo last night.
Udogie set for Tottenham medical
Sunday 14 August 2022 09:10 , George Flood
Tottenham are edging closer to their seventh signing of a busy summer transfer window.
Spurs have been trying to wrap up a deal for Italian Under-21 international left-back Destiny Udogie for some time now.
The 19-year-old was left out of the Udinese squad for last night’s 4-2 defeat by reigning Serie A champions AC Milan at the San Siro.
Fabrizio Romano reports that they did not want to take any risks over Udogie, who is poised to undergo his Tottenham medical on Tuesday.
He will sign a five-year contract with Tottenham before being loaned back to Udinese for the rest of the 2022-23 season.
Arsenal want Moises Caicedo deal
Sunday 14 August 2022 09:00 , George Flood
Arsenal want to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
The Ecuadorian midfielder has made quite some impact since returning from a loan spell at Belgian side Beerschot last term, playing a starring role as Graham Potter’s side opened the new Premier League season with an impressive 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
And such strong performances have evidently not gone unnoticed, with the Sunday Mirror suggesting that Arsenal are now interested in a deal for Caicedo.
However, United, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be chasing the 20-year-old, whom Brighton signed for only £4.5m from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle last January after initial strong links to the Red Devils.
Man United push for Rabiot deal after Brentford drubbing
Sunday 14 August 2022 08:39 , George Flood
Manchester United fans simply won’t want to hear it after yesterday’s humiliation by Brentford, but they are pushing ahead with a deal for Adrien Rabiot.
The Red Devils have had a £15m agreement in place with Juventus for the French midfielder for over a week now, with football director John Murtough having travelled to Turin to discuss personal terms with his agent and mother Veronique.
Fabrizio Romano reports this morning that United want to press to sign Rabiot soon, with another round of discussions planned.
He adds that all parties are confident that the transfer will be completed.
Chelsea in contact over Aubameyang signing
Sunday 14 August 2022 08:25 , George Flood
Chelsea are making contact with Barcelona over a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to the latest reports.
The Blues have the Barcelona frontman on their shortlist of striker targets and he is clearly seen as a preferred option due to a strong relationship with Thomas Tuchel owing to their stint together at Borussia Dortmund.
The Press Association reported yesterday that Barca were open to discussing a move with Chelsea, but would likely push for a fee in excess of £20m, while the Blues could instead target a season-long loan that would see them cover Aubameyang’s wages in full.
Now Fabrizio Romano claims that the two clubs will be in touch through intermediaries, before Chelsea decide whether or not to bid.
Aubameyang was restricted to a late cameo as Xavi’s Barcelona began the new LaLiga season with a frustrating goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou last night.

The ex-Arsenal captain has been linked with a shock return to the Premier League just seven months after arriving in Spain and a reunion with Thomas Tuchel, with whom he shares a close bond from their Borussia Dortmund days.
According to the Press Association, Barca are willing to discuss a potential fee with Chelsea for Aubameyang, pushing for a figure upwards of £20m as they seek to continue to balance the books at Camp Nou.
PA report that the Blagurana will want a permanent transfer and are open to letting him go for the right price, with Chelsea perhaps set to try their luck with a loan offer that would see them cover his wages in full.

Saturday 13 August 2022 14:44 , George Flood
Quite how Barcelona prepare to pay for Bernardo Silva remains to be seen, although their links with a move for the Manchester City star continue.
Speaking on Friday, City boss Pep Guardiola was coy on the midfielder’s future.
“I want Bernardo at Man City, 100 per cent. He’s special. I don’t know what will happen, but he knows how much we like him and want him, how much we love him,” he said.
“But I don’t know what is going to happen.”

David Moyes sends fresh Jesse Lingard message
Saturday 13 August 2022 13:55 , Jonathan Gorrie
David Moyes insists West Ham did all they could to bring Jesse Lingard back to the club this summer.
Upon the expiration of the 29-year-old’s contract at Manchester United, a return to east London seemed an obvious move for a player eager to work his way back into the England set-up ahead of the World Cup.
Lingard scored 9 goals in 16 games for the club during a loan spell two seasons ago and had remained a target, although ultimately it was Nottingham Forest who swooped in.
Carlo Ancelotti to RETIRE after Real Madrid spell
Saturday 13 August 2022 13:33 , Jonathan Gorrie

Chelsea told three signing would ‘guarantee’ Champions League football
Saturday 13 August 2022 13:01 , Jonathan Gorrie
Jamie Redknapp believes signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Frenkie De Jong and Wesley Fofana would guarantee Champions League football for Chelsea.
“If they get Fofana, Aubameyang and De Jong, they’re guaranteeing Champions League football with that,” he told Sky Sports.
“I’m a massive fan of De Jong. I feel sorry for him in a way because he’s in limbo. It feels like he wants to come to London and isn’t too keen on going to Manchester. Whoever gets him, he’s a game changer for them. Chelsea certainly have problems in that area – Jorginho is not long-term in terms of his physicality.
“He’s done brilliantly and been an amazing player for Chelsea, Champions League winner and for Italy winning the European Championships, but De Jong gives them a different dimension with pace and strength, playing at the base of midfield, giving N’Golo Kante license to go and do what he wants.
“He’d be an amazing signing and a real statement of intent if they could beat Man Utd to that one.
“As for Aubameyang, he was such a disappointment at Arsenal towards the end. He did OK at Barcelona but they’re obviously keen to offload him again. As a stop-gap for a year, it probably wouldn’t be the worst signing.
“I was quite critical of him last year. I didn’t think he put the effort in for Arsenal. It looked like he wasn’t the same player. But for one season… it’s not one that would inspire me, but he would come with a bit of a point to prove.”
Chelsea agree personal terms with Fofana
Saturday 13 August 2022 12:36 , George Flood

Big names have been signed already as the Blues chase even more additions between now and the end of window.
According to the Daily Mail, one player in particular is of interest.
They claim personal terms have been agreed with Leicester star Wesley Fofana.
Kieran Tierney: No transfer talks between Manchester City and Arsenal
Saturday 13 August 2022 12:13 , Jonathan Gorrie
So much about Arsenal’s transfer window so far has been hugely impressive, with big names arriving at the club to potentially propel the club back into the Champions League places.
With that in mind, the idea of a key player leaving goes against the good-feeling Mikel Arteta has built up this summer, with Kieran Tierney linked with Manchester City.
Fabrizio Romano, however, has stressed there are no talks between the two clubs.
Ndombele to follow Lo Celso out of Spurs
Saturday 13 August 2022 11:47 , George Flood
Tottenham now appear to be making great progress in their quest to get rid of a quartet of unwanted players.
Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilon have all been transfer listed and training away from their team-mates as Spurs look to offload them ahead of the September deadline.
While Lo Celso is on the verge of returning to Villarreal on another loan deal, fellow midfielder Ndombele is reportedly set for Napoli.
Fabrizio Romano says that a deal has now been struck between the two clubs for an initial loan that includes an option to buy next summer.
Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli is believed to have met with Ndombele’s agents in Paris this week in order to discuss personal terms.
Bayern Munich want Havertz to join Mane in attack
Saturday 13 August 2022 11:14 , George Flood
Chelsea forward Kai Havertz is being targeted for a return to the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.
That is according to Sport1 in Germany, who claim that Bayern previously wanted to exploit Chelsea’s interest in Robert Lewandowski by manoeuvering a deal for the former Bayer Leverkusen star.
Lewandowski obviously ended up at Barcelona, where he has now finally been registered ahead of tonight’s LaLiga opener against Rayo Vallecano, though the pursuit of Havertz is seemingly not over.
Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann is said to still covet the 23-year-old, despite signing Sadio Mane from Liverpool earlier this summer.
Done deal! Watford sign Keinan Davis
Saturday 13 August 2022 10:45 , George Flood
Watford have wasted little time moving for their preferred Emmanuel Dennis replacement.
With the Nigerian forward on the verge of completing a £20m switch to Nottingham Forest, the Hornets have swooped for a player who impressed on loan at the City Ground last term.
Keinan Davis has now completed his move from Aston Villa to Vicarage Road on a season-long loan, having passed a medical and been in the stands for last night’s 1-0 home win over fellow Championship promotion hopefuls Burnley, secured by Tom Cleverley’s late first-half strike.
He will hope to make his debut away at Birmingham on Tuesday night as Rob Edwards’ Hornets face a reunion with club legend and former long-serving captain Troy Deeney at St Andrew’s.

Man United hold talks over Morata move
Saturday 13 August 2022 10:35 , George Flood

The Athletic report that a move to Old Trafford for ex-Chelsea frontman Morata is now considered a real possibility this month, with talks already held with Atletico Madrid over a deal that could be worth £30m.
Tottenham set to clinch £41m Romero deal
Saturday 13 August 2022 10:04 , George Flood
Tottenham are reportedly set to finally convert Cristian Romero’s successful loan deal into a permanent transfer.
The Argentine defender initially joined Spurs on loan from Serie A side Atalanta last summer on a season-long loan agreement that included an option to buy.
Per The Telegraph, Tottenham will now take up that option and clinch a permanent deal worth around £41m, which would put him third on the club’s list of all-time most expensive signings, after new boy Richarlison and Tanguy Ndombele.
Arsenal target Tonali rubbishes Milan exit talk
Saturday 13 August 2022 09:42 , George Flood
While Arsenal have been handed a key boost over Yeremy Pino in the last 24 hours, one player who may not be coming to the Emirates this summer after all is Sandro Tonali.
Reports earlier this week suggested that the Gunners had entered into early talks with AC Milan over a deal for the Italian international midfielder.
However, speaking in a recent interview with Sette Magazine in Milan, Tonali claimed that his future lies at the San Siro.
“[Joining AC Milan] was the right thing to do and my development has been a natural consequence,” he said.
“Being in a team permanently is not like being out on loan. It’s a detail that alone counts little, but makes the difference by adding other factors.
“If you play badly while on loan, you can be worried the club won’t sign you. I joined Milan at the right moment and I want to stay.”

The Dutch forward is heading for a Camp Nou exit before the deadline as Barca try to shift the Ronald Koeman signing off their wage bill, with Juventus seen as the most likely next destination amid rival liks over Tottenham and even a potential return to Manchester United.
Football Insider reported that West Ham have now made a big-money offer to Depay to pair with headline signing Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio at the London Stadium.
However, Irons boss David Moyes rejected the speculation yesterday, telling reporters ahead of the clash with Nottingham Forest: “It’s not us.”

Per Catalan outlet Sport, United are in talks with Barca over a deal for USA international Dest that could be worth just £16.9m.
They are said to have offered Diogo Dalot as part of the negotiations, though the Blaugrana would prefer a straight cash deal as they look to improve their financial situation.
Sport add that Chelsea could yet rival United for Dest, with both clubs still trying to sign his Barca team-mate Frenkie de Jong.

According to football.london, Spurs have been tracking Paqueta for quite some time, with suggestions over recent days that he could be allowed to move on for a cut-price fee of just £33m.
However, Antonio Conte is prioritising outgoings at the moment, having made six new signings already this summer.
But once those unwanted players are offloaded, could there be room for one more big splash? Time will tell...

“If an offer arrives for players like Yeremy Pino, then he will have to leave,” he said.
“We have a responsibility with the club. It is what it is.”

Conte said: "For sure, he [Lukaku] has the potential to play in the Premier League. I remember very well when he started to play last season, he played really well and you in the media said Lukaku is really strong. A lot of things can happen to drop [a player's] confidence.
"I know for sure he is a bit disappointed with his impact, because he wanted to have another impact in England. But he has time. Now it's right for him to play for an important club in Italy to try to get again confidence in himself. But we are talking about a really important, a really good striker.”

Tuchel on Aubameyang relationship: ‘We have a close bond'
Friday 12 August 2022 13:47 , George Flood
Tuchel has also spoken of his strong relationship with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with whom he previously worked at Borussia Dortmund, as rumours persist that the ex-Arsenal captain could make a shock return to English football with Chelsea.
“I enjoyed a lot working with him, it was a pleasure," he said. "Some players stay your players because you work very very close, Auba is one of these players.
"We had a very close relationship. Always when we played him here with Arsenal, there was always straightaway this close bond. They always stay your players in a way, Auba is one of these guys.
“No concerns because I experienced none of this [his behaviour at Arsenal]. This is nothing to do with the situation in Arsenal which I will also not comment on out of respect. It’s not on me to comment, I don’t know what happened. In Dortmund, there was never an issue.”
Tuchel issues Chelsea transfer update
Friday 12 August 2022 13:34 , George Flood
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has inevitably been quizzed on transfers at a press conference held ahead of Sunday’s London derby clash with Tottenham at Stamford Bridge...
“I think we could use and strengthen our squad in depth and strength [in attack and defence]," the German told reporters at Cobham. "But it's one thing that you wish for and another what is possible. It needs to be possible.
"We are looking for top quality, top personalities, good characters and competitors on the highest levels. You don’t always get what you wish for and that’s why we are calm and ambitious at the same time.
"There are quite some days to go until the end of the transfer period. Everything is possible until the end. We could use one more central defender; if you look at the numbers and that we play with a back three. The profile of the guys in the three is a little bit different, I admit.
"We can play with Azpi (Cesar Azpilicueta), who is more a full-back than central defender. (Marc) Cucurella it’s possible too [to play on the side of a back three]. Both of them cannot play as the middle central defender. So we could use one more central defender. Let’s see what happens.
“It is what it is. We will not panic and we will not do things, we will not try to sign players which we are not 10 per cent convinced. All signings so far are fantastic signings that help us. To be very honest it is day-by-day business now to coach the team which is here and not lose your head as a coach about what could be."

Having sold Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern Munich last month, Juve were on the hunt for a centre-back and identified Gabriel as a target.
The Brazilian has impressed since joining Arsenal in 2020 from Lille, and the Serie A giants wanted to see if he would be tempted by a move to Italy.
A deal never got off the ground, though, and Juve swooped for Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer instead, with Gabriel revealing he never wanted to leave Arsenal.
“It’s always nice to get recognition, but I am really focused on Arsenal,” he said. “I am very happy here. I’ve got a good relationship with my team-mates and I am fully committed to the project.

As mentioned earlier, Pep Guardiola is believed to be desperate to strengthen that area of his defence before the September 1 deadline after allowing Oleksandr Zinchenko to join Arsenal last month.
While Tierney has been linked, The Telegraph report that City are interested in signing Lodi from Atletico Madrid.
The Brazilian is a key player under Diego Simeone and has three years left on his contract in the Spanish capital, so likely won’t come cheap.

The striker has been told he can leave PSG, where he has only two years left to run on his current contract.

Klopp doubts Liverpool will make further signings
Friday 12 August 2022 10:04 , George Flood
Jurgen Klopp has cast doubt upon Liverpool conducting any more transfer business this summer.
The Reds have brought in Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay so far in the current window, with the German insisting he is happy with the make-up of his squad.
Injuries to the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Ibrahima Konate, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, Kostas Tsimikas, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have significantly harmed Liverpool’s depth during the early stages of the new campaign, but Klopp does not believe an effective solution lies in the transfer market.
“If there would be the right player, we would have done it, we would do it, but we have had a lot of conversations already and it doesn’t look like it will happen,” he told reporters ahead of Monday night’s clash with Crystal Palace.
“I’m happy with the strength, size, and quality of my squad – but we have injuries.
“There are different solutions for it – one of them is the transfer market, but it only makes sense if you can bring in the right player.
“If there is the right solution for us, we would have done it already. We are not stubborn, it’s just about the right thing to do.”
Watford eye Davis as Dennis replacement
Friday 12 August 2022 09:37 , George Flood

They are set to pay Watford £20m for the Nigerian, who moved to Vicarage Road from Club Brugge for £3m only a year ago, and there is optimism on all sides that a deal will be completed.
Watford are now looking to bring in a striker before the transfer window shuts on September 1 and they have set their sights on Davis.
It is thought Villa would be open to loaning the 24-year-old, who impressed in the Championship at Forest last season and is a target for West Brom.
Watford are also fans of Davis’ Villa team-mate Cameron Archer, but it is unclear if he will be allowed to leave on loan this summer.

After seeing the club add several central defenders in the last week, the Portuguese manager has now instructed the likes of Tony Khan and Alistair Macintosh, who work on transfers, to conduct further business.

The Mirror report that City are now plotting to go back to Arsenal in a bid to sign Tierney, who was on the bench at Crystal Palace on the opening weekend of the season as he returns to fitness following his latest bout of injury.
However, the Scotland international remains a crucial part of Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad and it would surely be hugely difficult to prise him away from the Emirates at this time.
