Transfer news LIVE! Arsenal in Calafiori bid; sixth Chelsea signing; De Ligt to Man Utd; Spurs want Williams

Transfer news LIVE!

Arsenal have been linked with signing a striker all summer window but it appears that a new defender could yet be the next addition through the door. The Gunners are interested in Bologna and Italy's Riccardo Calafiori and have now begun official talks over a player who is expected to cost around £42million. Viktor Gyokeres remains the desired target up top, and is available for £85m, while Arsenal have confirmed the £27m permanent signing of David Raya.

Chelsea were also interested in Calafiori, though not at that price, but are closing in on their sixth summer signing in the form of Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino. A deal could be wrapped up this week, just days after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Guiu both joined. Spain's Euro 2024 star Nico Williams is now a target, and also of interest to Tottenham.

Spurs have signed Leeds teenager Archie Gray for £30m, and are now looking at Williams, who has a £49m release clause. Desire Doue and Pedro Neto are also targets for Tottenham this summer. Manchester United's transfer business is also stepping up with Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee likely first arrivals, while West Ham are closing in on a £40m deal for Max Kilman and Manchester City star Ederson could be off to Saudi Arabia. William Gallas: Chelsea should have signed Neymar, not Estevao Willian

He told Lord Ping: “If I had the money I would’ve preferred to spend it on a player like Neymar. Someone with experience who will know how to adapt very quickly, it’s harder for young players.

“You can say that the money is an investment for the future but the Premier League is much tougher than La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A and even the Bundesliga, it’s far more physical.

“It can be hard for players, even for Neymar. Because Neymar needs space and he also needs rest, playing every three games can be really intense.
