Tottenham vs Sheffield United - LIVE!
Richarlison ended a difficult week by coming off the bench to score and inspire Tottenham to a dramatic 2-1 win over Sheffield United. Spurs were heading for their first Premier League defeat under Ange Postecoglou after Gustavo Hamer put the newly-promoted side 1-0 up in the 73rd minute.
Postecoglou turned to Richarlison and the £60million forward, who revealed this week he would seek “psychological help” following a turbulent time on and off the pitch, rewarded the faith of his head coach with a headed equaliser in the eighth minute of added time.
There was still time for a grandstand finish and it arrived in the 10th minute of stoppage time when Richarlison set up Dejan Kulusevski to rifle home to make it four league wins in a row for Tottenham ahead of next weekend’s derby away to Arsenal. It was a cruel ending for Sheffield United, who had Oli McBurnie sent off for a second yellow card before full-time and remain winless after five matches.

18:32 , Matt Verri
There have already been several moments of potential lift-off for Richarlison at Tottenham, but his decisive cameo in an exhilarating late win over Sheffield United felt like the best evidence yet that the Brazilian can turn a corner and be a success at the club.
At the end of perhaps the toughest week of his professional career, in which he revealed he would seek “psychological help” following a difficult five months away from the pitch, Richarlison came off the bench to score one and assist Dejan Kulusevski’s 100th-minute winner -- continuing Ange Postecoglou’s excellent start at Spurs.
Richarlison had gone into the fixture on the back of twice failing to score for Brazil in World Cup qualifying wins over Bolivia and Peru, maintaining his duck for his country since the World Cup, and with his place in Spurs’ XI increasingly in doub
Paul Heckingbottom slams officiating
17:58 , Matt Verri
“Something needs to be done now,” the Blades boss has told Sky Sports.
“And this is not me moaning, I said it half-time and when we were 1-0 up as well. The focus is on timewasting so the referees are dictating how we play. We set up from the back, then Spurs push forward and then that dictates how we play. But no, we’re just told to play long. You can’t do it.
“Wes (Foderingham) got a yellow card for handling outside the box and then got threatened with a sending off (for timewasting) you can’t do it. The officiating is appalling, and it’s not about the football decisions, it’s just game management.
“My worry is all the focus is on yellow cards for time wasting and when I talked to the referees they haven’t got a clue what I’m talking about. They’re officiating the game, they simply do not know the game.”
Historic comeback!

Spurs up to second...
17:14 , Matt Verri
Tottenham sit second in the Premier League table after that win.
They’ve gone above Liverpool on goal difference, with only Man City, who have a perfect 15 points, above them.
The superb run under Postecoglou continues!

FT: Tottenham 2-1 Sheffield United
17:07 , Matt Verri
And breathe, Spurs fans...
Tottenham have beaten Sheffield United, despite trailing in the eighth minute of stoppage-time.
A remarkable comeback.
RED CARD!
17:05 , Matt Verri
McBurnie has been shown a second yellow card!
It’s for dissent and the Blades are down to ten men. Talk about the wheels coming off...
17:03 , Matt Verri
A goal and an assist for Richarlison. Extraordinary couple of minutes.
Maddison is down with cramp - knows exactly what he’s doing.
GOAL! Tottenham 2-1 Sheffield United | Dejan Kulusevski 90+10'
17:02 , Matt Verri
SPURS HAVE WON IT!
MADNESS. Kulusevski on his right foot, lashes a strike into the top corner. Bedlam in north London.
17:01 , Matt Verri
90+10 mins: Royal charging down the right, goes down.... no foul.
Spurs win it back though, Maddison very nearly sets Richarlison away on goal but the Brazilian loses his footing.
GOAL! Tottenham 1-1 Sheffield United | Richarlison 90+8'
16:59 , Matt Verri
SPURS ARE LEVEL!
Finally a corner works for them. Whipped straight in, Richarlison powers the header home.
Still four minutes to go...
16:58 , Matt Verri
90+7 mins: Perisic whips a cross into the box, can’t find Richarlison. Spurs are struggling to put together a late charge here, been poor in stoppage-time.
Not much structure to their play right now, all very desperate.
16:56 , Matt Verri
90+4 mins: Romero clatters into Archer, bringing a swift halt to that counter from the visitors. The Blades will be happy enough with the free-kick.
Hojbjerg is on for Tottenham, replacing Van de Ven. Royal on for Porro too.
16:53 , Matt Verri
90+2 mins: Terrible challenge from Davies, lunges in on Porro and that’s the tenth yellow card of the day.
Still the best part of ten minutes to go for Spurs. No need for them to panic yet.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
16:53 , Matt Verri
No fewer than 12 minutes added on here.
That must be demoralising for Sheffield United, who have defended superbly against wave after wave for Spurs attack and must have thought they were nearly there.
16:52 , Matt Verri
90 mins: WOW. 12 minutes added on!
So much time still to go. Kulusevski in behind, fires an effort at the near post and it’s turned behind for yet another corner.
And it will be a second one in quick succession, as Archer turns the ball behind. Corner number 14.
Porro wastes it, hammers the ball straight out of play.
GOO.... OFFSIDE!
16:48 , Matt Verri
Johnson thinks he has a debut goal, but the flag is up!
It was a superb first touch, as Bissouma pinged the ball over the top. Second one to lift the ball into the net wasn’t bad either.
Won’t count though.
16:47 , Matt Verri
85 mins: All getting very heated, as Foderingham boots the ball out of play to allow Bogle to receive some treatment. Spurs players not happy.
Trusty will be coming on to replace Bogle. We could be looking at close to ten minutes added on, if this is counted correctly.
16:43 , Matt Verri
82 mins: Spurs have the ball in the net, as Johnson wins the ball back in the Sheffield United box, but the whistle goes. It was a foul.
With the amount of added time we’re going to get, you’d imagine there’s still the best part of 15 minutes left for the hosts.
16:41 , Matt Verri
79 mins: Here we go then, debut for Johnson.
Son, Solomon and Sarr are the three players to make tway, as Postecoglou turns to his bench for the first time.
16:39 , Matt Verri
77 mins: Solomon again cutting in off the left, whips the effort high and wide of the far post.
Triple Spurs change incoming. Richarlison, Perisic and Johnson are all waiting to come on.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
16:37 , Matt Verri
This really would be a pretty remarkable smash and grab if Sheffield United can hold on for the final 15 minutes plus stoppages.
They’ve weathered a storm since half-time but now lead.
Postecoglou has just called for Johnson. Slightly strange it has taken this long.
16:36 , Matt Verri
75 mins: Well then.
Tottenham have 15 minutes, plus a fair amount of stoppage-time, to turn this around.
Hard to believe they find themselves in this position.
GOAL! Tottenham 0-1 Sheffield United | Gustavo Hamer 74'
16:34 , Matt Verri
INCREDIBLE!
Spurs have been absolutely dominant, but they’re behind!
Long throw into the box, falls for Hamer at the back post and his finish finds a way into the far corner.
16:33 , Matt Verri
71 mins: Maddison urged to shoot by the home fans, instead clips a ball to the back post and straight out of play.
He might go for goal next time...
16:30 , Matt Verri
68 mins: Couple more shots from Kulusevski, both blocked as he cut inside onto his left foot.
Deafening boos as Foderingham continues to take his sweet time with ball in hand. Really pushing his luck - already on a yellow card remember.
Speaking of yellows, Solomon into the book. Loses the ball and drags McBurnie down. That’s now eight bookings in the match.
16:28 , Matt Verri
67 mins: And another penalty appeal, Son down this time. Waved away once more.
Spurs stay on the attack, Solomon gets the left-footed strike away and it’s just over the bar!
He’s convinced it was tipped over, but goal-kick given. Home fans absolutely furious.
16:26 , Matt Verri
65 mins: Bissouma stumbles into the box and decides to throw himself to the ground. Soft doesn’t do it justice.
Referee not even vaguely interested, same goes for VAR.
16:24 , Matt Verri
62 mins: Feels almost impossible to believe that Sheffield United can survive another 30 minutes of this pressure. It’s relentless.
Sarr in space on the right, ball into the box is cleared away again. The Blades have dealt really well with anything that’s been whipped in.
Robinson now into the book for time-wasting. He tried to knock the ball against Son and missed... feel like Spurs should have just been allowed to play on there.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
16:22 , Matt Verri
Spurs are now camped on the edge of the Blades’ box, trying to work their way through a sea of yellow shirts.
Ivan Perisic, Richarlison and new signing Brennan Johnson are all warming up, suggesting Ange Postecoglou is considering an attacking change.
16:21 , Matt Verri
59 mins: A ninth Spurs corner coming up. Porro less than impressed as he’s told he can’t take it quickly, referee is over to the touchline.
Not sure what that was about, but play resumes. Porro whips it in, nobody there in a white shirt at the back post.
16:19 , Matt Verri
57 mins: Superb block, the Blades are hanging on for dear life.
Udogie cuts the ball back, falls perfectly for Son and he can’t get his shot past the mass of yellow shirts flying in. Kulusevski then denied by Robinson.
Spurs take a corner quickly, once again a ball is thrown from the stands onto the pitch to halt their progress. That’s from the home fans too...
16:16 , Matt Verri
54 mins: Foderingham is taking an absolute age over every goal-kick. He’s already on a yellow card, will the referee show him a second for time-wasting?
For now it’s another Spurs corner, Kulusevski’s cut-back blocked. Maddison takes it quickly, momentum goes and McAtee clears the ball.
16:11 , Matt Verri
50 mins: Van de Ven shown a yellow card, he went in late on Foderingham as the ball looped up for the goalkeeper.
Not a terrible challenge, but bundled into Foderingham who stayed down and needs some treatment.
Davies is warming up on the touchline, looks like Foderingham might be coming off here. Or not - gloves are coming back on and Davies has his bib on. Spurs fans unimpressed.
16:09 , Matt Verri
48 mins: We’ve picked up from where we left off.
Spurs piling on the pressure, Solomon drifting in on off the wing and laying the ball off for Sarr. His shot is deflected behind for a corner.
Maddison whips it into the box, brilliant delivery but Romero can’t divert the header at goal.
Back underway!
16:06 , Matt Verri
Up and running for the second-half!
15:59 , Matt Verri
Best part of 70% possession for Spurs in the opening 45 minutes, to go with 12 shots. Seven of those have been on target.
A couple on target for the Blades, chances for McAtee and McBurnie - both should really have done better. Visitors have offered a threat on the rare occasion they’ve got bodies forward.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
15:53 , Matt Verri
It’s 0-0 but Spurs are battering Sheffield Utd here.
Foderingham has made seven smart saves, the best from Bissouma and Son, while Maddison had a decent penalty appeal waved away.
In a warning sign, McBurnie finished the half with a free header straight down Vicario’s throat, though.
HT: Tottenham 0-0 Sheffield United
15:50 , Matt Verri
The Blades should probably score just before the break!
They win a corner, McBurnie unmarked in the middle and he powers the header straight at Vicario. Huge moment.
And that is half-time. Spurs by far the better team but nothing to show for it at the break.
15:48 , Matt Verri
45+2 mins: Clever set-piece from Spurs, Maddison lays it off for Kulusevski and his shot is deflected behind for yet another Spurs corner.
Taken short, before Porro then tries to drill it into the box from deep. Headed out.
15:47 , Matt Verri
45 mins: Yellow card for Foderingham, who gets himself into an awful mess.
Came off his line to claim the ball over the top, but he’s handled it outside of his box as Kulusevski closed in.
Free-kick Spurs, goalkeeper is into the book. Three minutes added on - should be about double that.
15:45 , Matt Verri
43 mins: The visitors cannot get out, constant pressure from Spurs now. Bissouma with a lovely turn, finds Kulusevski and his ball into the middle is blocked.
Spurs corner, deep cross from Maddison and it’s flicked behind. Kulusevski to take the corner this time.
Fired to the near post, headed away.
15:42 , Matt Verri
40 mins: Just wide!
Spurs playing some lovely football, can’t get that opening goal though.
Sheffield United cut open down the Spurs left, Solomon cuts the ball back for Maddison and he lashes an effort beyond the far post.
15:40 , Matt Verri
38 mins: Fairly lengthy delay but we’re up and running again. Foderingham continuing for now.
Will get a decent amount of stoppage-time at the end of this half.
Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
15:37 , Matt Verri
Wes Foderingham is receiving treatment which must be a concern for Sheffield United, as the goalkeeper has been by far their busiest player so far.
Spurs have peppered his goal with shots, although to be fair none you wouldn’t expect him to save.
15:36 , Matt Verri
35 mins: Here’s Maddison again, this time on his feet to work the ball onto his left foot.
20 yards out, fires an effort at goal. Catches it nicely but straight at Foderingham, who has now made seven saves.
Replays of that penalty claim show that Maddison was definitely clipped - could easily have been given.
15:34 , Matt Verri
33 mins: VAR not interested either.
Maddison has been involved in pretty much everything for Tottenham, but that did look fairly theatrical.
15:34 , Matt Verri
32 mins: Kulusevski rushes in to close down Foderingham, who can only knock the ball straight out of play. He’s very relieved to hear the whistle go, referee decides Kulusevski was a bit too keen.
Spurs swiftly get it back, Maddison launches himself to the floor in the box... nothing given. VAR will check.
15:31 , Matt Verri
29 mins: Basham into the book, drags Maddison back and it’s a yelllow card. Might have got away with it, but he booted the ball away for good measure after the foul was given. Not a geat decision.
Spurs take the free-kick short, eventually clipped into the box but the Blades defend it well.
15:29 , Matt Verri
27 mins: Foderingham is earning his money this afternoon.
Solomon gets the ball in space on the left and as ever his instinct is to cut inside. Keeps working it onto his right foot, eventually finds space for the shot and the Sheffield United goalkeeper is down in time to save.
15:26 , Matt Verri
25 mins: Maddison the latest to go close, how is this still goalless?
Driving at goal, Sheffield United keep backing off and Maddison is allowed so much space 20 yards out. Completely mishits the shot though, basically passes it to Foderingham.
15:24 , Matt Verri
23 mins: Brilliant save!
The visitors should be in front. They get in down the right, cut back to McAtee and his strike looks destined for the bottom corner... Vicario down really well.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
15:22 , Matt Verri
After a slightly soporific start in the heat, Spurs are finding their rhythm nicely.
Sarr, Bissouma and Son have all forced saves from Fotheringham, and it feels like a matter of time before the hosts make a breakthrough.
15:21 , Matt Verri
20 mins: Best chance yet!
It’s all Tottenham now. Ball comes to Bissouma on the edge of the box, he drives into the area and it completely opens up for him.
On his left foot, Foderingham rushes out and smothers the shot. Huge chance.
15:20 , Matt Verri
18 mins: Spurs win a corner, as Kulusevski again gets on the ball out wide.
Maddison whips it in with plenty of pace, Romero wins the header but it’s well over the bar. Spurs starting to click into gear now, pressure is building.
15:19 , Matt Verri
17 mins: More like it from Kulusevski as he cuts inside onto his left foot, this time the cross is a good one.
Sarr with a late run into the box, can’t get enough on the header though and it’s straight at Foderingham.
15:17 , Matt Verri
16 mins: Sensational turn from Porro, home fans absolutely loved that. Slides the pass wide to Kulusevski, who has plenty of space.
Maddison on the edge of the box, Son in the middle... Kulusevski unable to pick out either.
15:16 , Matt Verri
14 mins: Not a huge amount of pace to Spurs’ play so far. Comfortable possession, but struggling to do anything with it.
Udogie tries to change that, bursting down the left wing, but his cross is charged down.
Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
15:14 , Matt Verri
There was palpable sense of optimism around the ground before kick-off but Spurs have been a bit ragged in the opening 10 minutes.
Two important interventions by Micky van de Ven have stopped the visitors from getting in dangerous positions.
15:13 , Matt Verri
11 mins: Better from the Blades, they get plenty of bodies forward in the attack.
Worked to McBurnie, cuts inside onto his right foot and looks to bend an effort into the far corner... blocked. Potentially smacked into one of his team-mates.
Spurs straight on the counter, Maddison makes the run in behind but he isn’t picked out.
15:11 , Matt Verri
9 mins: First shot of the match, comfortable enough save for Foderingham.
Space opens up for Sarr 20 yards out, low strike towards the far corner but not enough pace on it to really trouble the goalkeeper.
15:09 , Matt Verri
7 mins: Udogie has been all over the place so far. Robbed by Harmer, Van de Ven has to rush across to cover for his full-back.
Maddison drifting deep in the early stages to try and get the ball. Son making those runs in behind - won’t be long until he’s picked out, you’d think.
15:07 , Matt Verri
5 mins: Sheffield United look solid enough in the opening minutes, with McBurnie and Archer the two left up front to hold the ball up when it comes to them.
Udogie loses patience with Spurs just keeping the ball, tries to fizz a ball through to Solomon. Far too much on it.
15:04 , Matt Verri
2 mins: Dear me, ball absolutely fired back to Vicario and he does well to stop it going behind for a corner. Can only knock it straight out of play though.
That’s more good work from the goalkeeper, off his line to claim the long throw into the box.
KICK-OFF!
15:02 , Matt Verri
Up and running at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!
14:59 , Matt Verri
Here we go then, teams are out. Perfect conditions in north London.
The mood is positive at Spurs after a really encouraging first few weeks of the season - time to see if they can keep that going!
14:54 , Matt Verri
Players will be in the tunnel very shortly.
Tottenham third in the table as it stands, after Liverpool’s win over Wolves in the lunchtime kick-off. Chance Spurs could be top of the pile in a couple of hours, though that would require Man City to drop points at Man City.
Postecoglou’s focus will just be on matters in north London.
Small margins...
14:47 , Matt Verri
One point for Sheffield United so far this season, three defeats from their opening four Premier League games.
1-0, 2-1, 2-1 - all those defeats have been by one-goal margins. The Blades have been able to keep matches tight, but have regularly fallen just short in the opening weeks of the season.
Big ask to change that this afternoon.

Postecoglou not getting complacent
14:31 , Matt Verri
Ange Postecoglou insisted he is not naïve about how swiftly the mood could change if his Tottenham team suddenly stop producing the impressive results they have so far delivered under him.
It would mark their greatest start to a season since 1965 if Tottenham beat Sheffield United on Saturday, and Postecoglou is fully aware that results will ultimately determine his legacy at Spurs.
Speaking on Friday about a perceived honeymoon period, he said: “I don’t know what your honeymoon was like, but mine didn’t involve losing the greatest player in the history of this football club [Harry Kane] on the eve of the transfer window — me trying to scramble to get players into the club, fighting for everything I do.
“I’m well aware, after 28 years, of the pitfalls of management, trust me. I’ve gone into this with my eyes wide open. Your radar is always up. When things aren’t going well, you’re thinking: ’Are guys going to respond in the right way?’. And when things are going well, you’re thinking: ’Are we getting complacent?’”

Postecoglou sticks with winning formula
14:09 , Matt Verri
Spurs unchanged from the side that beat Burnley, with Heung-min Son and Cristian Romero both fit to start after overcoming knocks picked up during the international break.
Richarlison on the bench, as is Brennan Johnson who will eyeing a Tottenham debut this afternoon.
Four changes for the Blades, with Chris Basham, Luke Thomas, Jayden Bogle and James McAtee the quartet to come in.

Team news coming up from north London in just under ten minutes now.
Imagine it will be Heung-min Son leading the line again after his hat-trick before the international beak, but Ange Postecoglou has also confirmed that Richarlison will be in the squad.
We’ll get the answers very shortly.
Postecoglou: We are short at centre-back
13:43 , Matt Verri
Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Tottenham remain on the hunt for a new central defender.
The club spent around £43m to sign Micky van de Ven and the Dutchman has impressed alongside a reenergised Cristian Romero but convincing options behind the pair are light.
Eric Dier has not been involved while Davinson Sanchez was sold to Galatasaray, meaning the club will look to put their faith in teenager Ashley Phillips, who joined for £3m from Blackburn earlier this summer.
Ben Davies is another option in central defence but Postecoglou has confirmed the club “need” another centre-back, though whether that comes in January remains to be seen.
“We are a little bit light there but, for Davinson, it was a good opportunity to get a long-term contract,” he said.
“We needed to rebuild the squad - there was no point tinkering around the edges. We still probably need another centre-back.”
Good memories for the Blades!
13:35 , Matt Verri
Sheffield United beat Spurs 1-0 when these two sides met in the fifth round of the FA Cup last season, with Iliman Ndiaye scoring the only goal of the game.
There’s been a fair amount of change at Tottenham since then, though...

Bentancur continues recovery
13:25 , Matt Verri
Rodrigo Bentancur this week joined his Tottenham team-mates in their warm-up routines ahead of training as the midfielder took the next step towards his return to action.
The Uruguay international has not played since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in February and remains on course for a return in November, as manager Ange Postecoglou recently outlined.
Bentancur has not yet returned to training with Spurs, but took part in a few warm-up drills on Thursday alongside the likes of Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal before returning to individual work.
Perfect afternoon for it!

Struggling Richarlison deserves credit
13:10 , Matt Verri
If Dele Alli’s candid interview with Gary Neville in July taught us anything, it is to think twice before condemning a player out of form.
Elite footballers are like the rest of us, often with complicated pasts and entangled personal lives, and their struggles on the pitch can be as much the result of off-field difficulties as fitness, confidence or ability.
This week, for example, one of Dele’s successors in Tottenham’s attack, Richarlison, revealed he will seek “psychological help” on his return from international duty after a “turbulent time” away from the pitch for the past five months.
Richarlison’s revelation came after he was pictured in tears on Brazil’s bench during the 5-1 win over Bolivia, in which he failed to score and was substituted. He then started the 1-0 win over Peru and had a goal disallowed — continuing a steady streak of rotten luck.

Spurs duo pick up awards
13:02 , Matt Verri
Tottenham pair Ange Postecoglou and James Maddison have been named Premier League Manager and Player of the Month respectively in recognition of their excellent starts to life in north London.
Postecoglou guided new-look Spurs to wins over Bournemouth and Manchester United in August following the opening-day draw at Brentford, and beat competition from Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, West Ham boss David Moyes, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp and Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola to the award.
All five nominees were unbeaten but Guardiola was the only manager with a 100 per cent record from the month.
Maddison has been at the heart of Postecoglou’s transformed, possession-based side and scored his first goal for Tottenham against Bournemouth, following it up with another in the 5-2 win over Burnley this month.
He earned the gong ahead of City’s Rodri, West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen, Brighton attacker Kaoru Mitoma and Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford.
Standard Sport prediction
12:54 , Matt Verri
Spurs fans know this is the type of banana skin their club have fallen foul of over the years to dampen the mood at the unlikeliest of moments, but the players will be up to put on a show in just their second home game of the season.
The Blades cannot stop conceding and that trend will surely continue in north London.
Spurs to win 2-0.
Sheffield United team news
12:47 , Matt Verri
Sheffield United could hand a second debut to James McAtee, while Anel Ahmedhodzic is fit.
Tom Davies is in contention and Yasser Larouci is close to returning from injury, but George Baldock and John Egan face late fitness tests.
Tottenham team news
12:40 , Matt Verri
Spurs suffered an injury scare to Cristian Romero during the international break, but the centre-back is fit after heading back to England.
Richarlison has spoken about personal struggles away from football affecting his form, and Postecoglou says the forward will be involved this afternoon.

Hello and welcome to Standard Sport’s LIVE coverage of Tottenham vs Sheffield United!
So far, so good for Spurs this season under Ange Postecoglou. Unbeaten in the Premier League and they sit second in the table as it stands, with the mood firmly lifted in north London.
They come up against a Sheffield United side who have picked up just one point from their opening four matches, would be a big shock if they added to that tally here.
We’ll have all the latest updates, build-up and team news ahead of kick-off, which comes at 3pm BST from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Stay with us!
