Tottenham vs Everton LIVE! Premier League result, match stream and latest updates today

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford's error and Heung min-Son's brace helped Tottenham Hotspur to a comprehensive 4-0 victory over hapless Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Yves Bissouma and Cristian Romero were also among the goals as Tottenham eased to their first win of the campaign in a game they dominated against a visiting side who have conceded seven times in two games this season and are yet to score themselves.

Pickford carelessly miss-controlled a simple back pass in the first half, allowing Son to snatch the ball from him and score Tottenham's second goal into an empty, as the home side produced an accomplished display.

Everton, without several first-choice defenders due to injury, were unable to put pressure on their hosts and manager Sean Dyche will be seeking a quick improvement when they host Bournemouth next week in what is already looking like an important game for his struggling side.

Postecoglou hails 'special footballer' Micky van de Ven after Tottenham masterclass

19:28 , Jonathan Gorrie

Ange Postecoglou described Micky van de Ven as a "special footballer" after the centre-half starred in Tottenham's 4-0 thrashing of Everton in north London.

Van de Ven carried the ball more than 70 yards, from the edge of his own box, to set up Heung-min Son's second and Spurs's fourth goal on Saturday.

His centre-half partner Cristian Romero marked his 100th Spurs appearance with the third goal, with Yves Bissouma opening the scoring on an encouraging afternoon for Postecoglou's side.

The Australian believes Van de Ven, Romero, Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie are a "compelling" defensive unit for Spurs and is conscious of the need to manage their work-load.

"Outstanding. He's a pretty special footballer," Postecoglou said of the Dutchman.

Heung-min Son scored twice as Tottenham thrashed Everton 4-0 in their first home game of the season.

The Spurs captain doubled their lead in the first half, after Yves Bissouma’s fine strike broke the deadlock, and Son added a fourth late on.

Cristian Romero made it 3-0 earlier in the second half as Ange Postecoglou’s side punished a depleted Everton.

Tottenham ratings: Van de Ven incredible as Odobert lively on debut

17:16 , Jonathan Gorrie

Tottenham got their season up and running with a 4-0 thrashing of sorry Everton in north London.

Yves Bissouma’s outstanding strike – his first goal for the club – broke the deadlock and Heung-min Son pickpocketed Jordan Pickford to double the hosts' lead before half-time.

Cristian Romero marked his 100th Spurs appearance by heading home James Maddison’s corner to make it 3-0 and Son added a fourth after an incredible run by Micky van de Ven.

89 mins: An absolute masterclass from Spurs today, albeit Everton haven’t offered much.

Quite possibly the assist of the season for van de Ven, who picked up the ball on the edge of his box and dribbled to within a few yards of Everton's, before playing in Son. Outstanding.

Game over. Romero, marking his 100th appearances, deserves to put the cherry on the cake for Spurs. The Argentine has been outstanding with and without the ball this afternoon.

Next goal obviously feels crucial here. If Spurs get it, game over. But Everton have shown the odd flash, and Jesper Lindstrom nearly capitalised on a Odobert mistake to punish the hosts.

HT, 2-0. Spurs well on their way to a first win of the season after an excellent first 45 minutes here. They have created more than enough to be out of sight and Postecoglou will expect his players to keep the pressure on after the interval.

HT: Tottenham 2-0 Everton

15:52 , Jonathan Gorrie

Spurs in cruise control at the break.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

15:45 , Jonathan Gorrie

Worrying scenes for Spurs, as Micky van de Ven hobbles to the side of the pitch after appearing to jar his knee in an awkward landing. The centre-half looked in considerable pain but is continuing for now. Radu Dragusin is ready and waiting to come on if needed.

Tottenham 2-0 Everton

15:44 , Jonathan Gorrie

41 mins: Slight concern as Van de Ven lands awkwardly.

Tottenham 2-0 Everton

36 mins: While Everton can’t really legislate for a Pickford mistake, they’ve been absolutely listless here.

Tottenham 2-0 Everton

15:35 , Jonathan Gorrie

31 mins: It’s all Tottenham now. Everton haven’t had a shot on target.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

15:31 , Jonathan Gorrie

It's a nightmare moment for Pickford but credit to Son for a brilliant piece of pressing. It wasn't a bad pass back to the England goalkeeper but his first touch was heavy and Son pounced. A cushion for Spurs, who will sense a chance to run up a big score here.

GOAL! Tottenham 2-0 Everton | Heung-min Son '24

15:28 , Jonathan Gorrie

24 mins: GOAL!

A gift for Spurs! An absolutely horrific touch from Pickford allows Son to press him, win the ball back and roll into an empty net.

Tottenham 1-0 Everton

15:24 , Jonathan Gorrie

21 mins: The goal has dropped Tottenham’s tempo somewhat, however.

They’re in control but not quite as relentless.

Tottenham 1-0 Everton

15:22 , Jonathan Gorrie

18 mins: Really strong start from Spurs. Even when Everton got on the ball, they’re quickly harried off of it.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

15:20 , Jonathan Gorrie

For Bissouma, that was the perfect on-pitch response to his one-match club ban. Just as you were starting to wonder if Spurs would rue missing a slew of early chances, the Malian breaks the deadlock with an oustanding first-time finish from the edge of the box. Question is now, can Spurs build on this lead, as they failed to do at the King Power Stadium?

GOAL! Tottenham 1-0 Everton | Yves Bissouma '13

15:17 , Jonathan Gorrie

13 mins: GOAL!

Patient play from Spurs as Kulusevski rolls one back to Bissouma just inside the box.

He absolutely rifles it past Pickford and into the top corner!

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

15:13 , Jonathan Gorrie

10 mins: Big save!

Maddison drifts in behind the Everton backline but cannot control Romero’s long ball well enough to fashion a shot that beats Pickford.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

15:09 , Jonathan Gorrie

Spurs have made another fast start here, with Romero and Son both extending Pickford in the early stages and Odobert lively. But as Monday's frustrating draw at Leicester illustrated, these spells of pressure count for little when you don't convert your chances.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

15:08 , Jonathan Gorrie

05 mins: A huge save from Pickford!

Son’s shot from range takes a huge deflection but the ‘keeper parries it away.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

15:06 , Jonathan Gorrie

03 mins: Relentless start from Spurs.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

15:05 , Jonathan Gorrie

01 mins: Decent start from Spurs as Maddison flashes in a lovely cross, forcing Everton to clear lines,

Everton fail to clear the corner, however, and Son forces the ball into the path of Cristian Romero - who sees his shot saved by Jordan Pickford.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

15:04 , Jonathan Gorrie

It's a miserable August day in north London, grey and raining steadily. James Tarkowski was the only Everton player to give his training jacket to his mascot in case you're interested. Spurs players Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro, Heung min-Son and Brennan Johnson all did so.

A start for new signing Wilson Odobert, 19, is a surprise, while I also didn’t expect Yves Bissouma to come straight back into the side. I’m guessing Son will be through the middle with Kulusevski and Maddison the No10s but there’s a variety of different ways Spurs’ front five could line up.

Heung-min Son wants to become a Tottenham 'legend' by winning a trophy as captain

13:37 , Jonathan Gorrie

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son says his aim is to become "legendary" at the club but does not believe he is there yet.

Next year will mark a decade since Son joined Spurs from Bayern Leverkusen and the 32-year-old has been one of the club's best signings of the modern era.

He has scored at least 14 League goals in each of the past eight years and was named captain by manager Ange Postecoglou last summer.

But Son is yet to win a club trophy with Spurs and asked by BBC Sport about what he hoped his legacy would be, the South Korean said: "Legendary.

Ange Postecoglou on Richarlison role as Dominic Solanke suffers injury blow

12:57 , Jonathan Gorrie

Richarlison is "not going anywhere" this summer, according to Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou, who says keeping the striker fit is the key to getting the best from him.

Richarlison is in contention to start against his former club Everton on Saturday after summer signing Dominic Solanke was ruled out with an ankle injury, but Postecoglou says the Brazilian is not ready to play 90 minutes.

Yves Bissouma 'doing everything right' after laughing gas ban, says Ange Postecoglou

12:53 , Jonathan Gorrie

Ange Postecoglou says Yves Bissouma has been "doing everything right" since being suspended by Tottenham for filming himself taking laughing gas, but warned the midfielder he must consistently behave to work his way back into favour.

Bissouma missed Spurs' opening game of the season, the 1-1 draw at Leicester on Monday, after being banned by the club for uploading a video of himself taking nitrous oxide - which has been illegal since last year - to social media.

Tottenham vs Everton: Premier League score prediction today

12:32 , Jonathan Gorrie

Tottenham had more than enough, and created more than enough, to beat Leicester on Monday night and the same should be true against Everton five days later. On another night, Solanke would have opened his account for his new team and today it will be Richarlison turn to try to find the back of the net.

Everton struggled to copy with Brighton’s intensity while playing at home, so the prospect of a busy Spurs side should strike fear into the Toffees.

Tottenham team news vs Everton

12:31 , Jonathan Gorrie

New Tottenham signing Dominic Solanke will miss today’s visit of Everton with an ankle injury picked up against Leicester, leaving Ange Postecoglou with a decision to make up front.

Richarlison, who scored twice against his former club in last season's 2-2 draw in north London, is a like-for-like replacement but did not play a minute of pre-season due to injury and is still working his way back to full match sharpness.

Dejan Kulusevski and Heung-min Son can also play through the middle, while Timo Werner and new signing Wilson Odobert are options in wide areas.

Rodrigo Bentancur will miss the game as he follows Premier League concussion protocols after being forced off in the 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium, opening the door for Yves Bissouma to make an immediate return to the side.

Bissouma missed the Leicester game serving a one-match club suspension for inhaling laughing gas but is again available for selection. Summer signing Archie Gray is the other contender to start at No6.

Pedro Porro is fit and available, despite being forced off with a knock in the second half on Monday night.
