Tottenham: Three players who have made the difference for Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham: Three players who have made the difference for Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham are already unrecognisable from last season’s struggling side. With Ange Postecoglou at the helm, the new manager is using a new system and new players, but also transforming those previously written off under past regimes.

Here, Dan Kilpatrick outlines three of player key to ‘Angeball’...

James Maddison

Didn't Spurs used to have another No10? Postecoglou has rubbished suggestions Maddison is a £40million "bargain", but the midfielder is already looking like potentially the signing of the summer. At 26, Maddison looks ready to really establish himself as one of the top-flight's most influential players and he has already contributed directly to four goals (two goals, two assists) in as many games.

Yves Bissouma

The Malian has been outstanding as Postecoglou's No6 in the first four matches, dominating with and without the ball and looking back to the player who ran the show at Brighton, rather than last season's shadow. His ability to beat the opposition press makes him essential for the way that Postecoglou wants to play, and the only worry is what Tottenham would do if he was sidelined for a long period, as he was last season.

Destiny Udogie

Signed last summer but sent back to Udinese on loan, most fans expected Udogie, 20, to need time to adjust to his new League and surroundings. Instead, the left-back looks tailor-made for English football and is already one of the top-flight's most exciting full-backs. Technically excellent, composed and physically imposing, he is also intelligent enough to "invert" into midfield, one of the cornerstones of Postecoglou's approach.
