Tottenham injury update: Heung-min Son, Destiny Udogie and Wilson Odobert latest news and return dates
Tottenham will hope to recover some key players ahead of another busy week.
After a relatively underwhelming start to the season, Spurs appear to have clicked of late. Ange Postecoglou’s side have now won four consecutive games, including making light work of Manchester United in Sunday’s 3-0 Premier League win.
They also beat Qarabag by the same scoreline to kick off their Europa League campaign with a victory despite an early red card for Radu Dragusin.
Spurs are in European action again this week when they travel to Hungarian champions Ferencvaros on Thursday before making the journey to Brighton on Sunday.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Tottenham injuries.
Heung-min Son
Captain Heung-min Son was forced off against Qarabag due to a hamstring concern and missed the win over United.
Speaking after the game at Old Trafford, Postecoglou appeared to hint the injury wasn’t too serious.
“Short turnaround obviously from Thursday night and he just wasn't right for today so we're going there without him,” said the Spurs boss.
“Yeah [it’s a blow for Tottenham], but we've had to sort of suffer those things a fair bit during my time here with key players missing out. We just have to learn to cope without him."
Pressed further on the forward’s fitness, Postecoglou added: “Obviously it was a quick turnaround today, so we'll assess it when we go back and get back down to London. We'll see how he is.”
Potential return date: October 2024
Destiny Udogie
Destiny Udogie came off at half-time at Old Trafford after appearing to have taken a knock before the interval.
After the game, Postecoglou played down any serious injury concerns, saying: “Destiny was ok.
“I mean he felt something in his quad but he obviously finished the half, but we just thought at half-time no point, we've got to be careful about how much we push our players.
“Obviously, Destiny had to come on pretty early on Thursday night, which wasn't the plan and I would say Micky [Van de Ven] played probably more than we wanted him to."
Udogie also cooled the injury fears himself on social media after the win at Old Trafford, writing on Instagram: “Coming back to London with three points. Sure I’ll be okay.”
Potential return date: October 2024
Wilson Odobert
Summer signing Wilson Odobert was injured during the Carabao Cup victory at Coventry earlier this month and Postecoglou conceded what is thought to be a hamstring issue could keep him on the sidelines for a while.
“Wilson doesn’t look good, we are still waiting for it to settle down and get all the information but he will definitely be out for the next period,” he said before the win over Brentford.
Potential return date: Unknown
Richarlison
Richarlison has not featured since the win over Everton in August and Postecoglou does not expect a return any time soon.
“He is a fair way off, I think you should stop asking me about him until I give you a bit of an update,” said the Spurs boss last week. “He has still not trained with the first team so he is still a bit off.”
