Toby Greene's father allegedly headbutted female cop at AFL grand final

The estranged father of GWS player Toby Greene is accused of headbutting a policewoman after the AFL grand final.

Michael Greene, 59, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Sunday charged with intentionally cause injury, resist police and assault police.

Dressed in a blue shirt Greene did not apply for bail and was remanded to appear at the Ringwood Magistrates Court next month.

Police said they escorted a drunk 59-year-old Ferntree Gully man from the bathrooms at the MCG about 5pm on Saturday.

It is alleged he then headbutted a female police officer.

It is understood Toby and Michael Greene are estranged and have not had a relationship for several years.

A GWS spokesman said the club would not be making any comment.

Arrests made in ugly scenes after grand final

In a separate incident a 21-year-old Brookfield man bit a police officer and a 27-year-old Brookfield man hit another policeman on the back of the head when they were spoken to about their behaviour.

Both have been charged with assault police and were released on bail.

The officer who was bitten was taken to hospital for treatment.

In total 43 people were kicked out of the MCG for assaulting police, possessing alcohol and drugs, ticketing violations and behaviour issues following the Tigers' triumphant win over the Giants at the MCG..

However, while there were a small number of arrests in Richmond overnight the police were pleased with the general crowd behaviour.

Three people were arrested for being drunk and another three were summonsed to appear in court for discharging flares.
