Toby Greene and partner share massive personal news to the delight of the AFL world
The GWS captain has surprised his partner Georgia Stirton with an epic proposal while on holiday.
GWS captain Toby Greene has shocked his partner Georgia Stirton with an incredible proposal at a picturesque beachside location. The newly engaged couple uploaded a video of the announcement on their Instagram accounts on Tuesday.
The clip showed Greene laid out a path of flowers that led Stirton out to a patio overlooking the beach in a tropical spot. With a big heart made out of flowers on the ground and seven-month-old daughter Isla in his hands, Greene got down on one knee and popped the big question. Stirton appeared completely in shock and unable to gather her thoughts for a brief moment before excitedly nodding and exclaiming yes.
The video showed the couple sharing a laugh before Greene puts the diamond ring on Stirton's finger. The couple are then seen embracing surrounded by family who filmed the heartwarming moment. The happy couple then Facetimed other friends and family not present to tell them the good news.
The Instagram post was fittingly captioned: "Apparently not a prank". And the post garnered plenty of well wishes and congratulatory messages as the AFL world congratulated the loved-up couple.
The GWS Giants account wrote: "About time", while many of Greene’s teammates plus wives and girlfriends of footballers left messages of congratulations. Geelong star and Greene's former teammate Jeremy Cameron wrote: "Unbelievable, congratulations guys xx" and Isaac Cumming commented: "Unreal! Congrats".
In the comments, Stirton also joked about her reaction writing: "Just be grateful there’s no audio because all I was saying was ‘what the f’ 20 times’".
Toby Greene and Georgia Stirton recently welcomed first child
The engagement comes after Greene and Stirton, a youth worker, shared in February that they had become new parents, posting a short and sweet video of their baby's legs with Greene writing "new best friend". The couple revealed the news they were expecting at last year's Brownlow medal and in the lead-up to the birth of their first child, Isla, the Giants skipper said he had been asking for plenty of advice.
"I’ll be making plenty of phone calls to mum and friends who have had babies and will just go on from there," Greene said at the time. "Once it comes I’m sure it’s going to be a big shock to the system … I’m sure Georgia will be super accommodating as well, she’ll be a super good mum."
