Hewitt and Groth's retirement party rolls on

Lleyton Hewitt and Sam Groth have wound back the clock with a stunning display in the Australian Open doubles.

The Aussie veterans were way too good for Denis Istomin and Mikhael Kukushkin on Thursday, moving into the second round with a 6-3, 6-3 win.

Groth produced a fine serving display as Hewitt showed he hasn't lost his touch, pulling off some brilliant volleys and groundstrokes.

At 36-year-old, Hewitt has come out of retirement for Groth's final tournament before he also retires.

"It's great to be back out here and playing at the Australian Open again," Hewitt said after the match.

The Aussie boys didn't have it all their own way however, with Istomin producing a brilliant winner off the net post.

"I have never seen that ever," John Fitzgerald said in commentary.
