Roger Federer made a massive early statement in the Australian Open final and made his intentions clear with an intense look of determination.

The Swiss Maestro was at his vintage best in the first set, dropping just four points on his serve to take it 6-4.

He finished off the set with an ace and immediately looked towards his players' box.

"That was a look of that's one and I'm here to get two more tonight," Jim Courier said in commentary.

"That was a very focused, intense look – I love that look from Roger Federer."
