Monfils and the greatest almost-winner of the Australian Open

Gael Monfils does things on the court no one else can even dream of.

He is a showman, a magician, an acrobat at times.

And that was on display against Rafael Nadal in their round-four clash.

This might not have gone in in the end but had it found its mark it would surely have gone down as one of the greatest shots of all time.

Lleyton Hewitt and Jim Courier were left dumbfounded by the attempt as he chased down a Nadal lob and tried to flock it back over the Spaniard at the net.

“That would have been the greatest get I have ever seen,” Courier said.

Hewitt was just as amazed, laughing out loud watching the replay.
