Djoker's hilarious tie-breaker proposition at 1-0 up

Novak Djokovic's first game against Denis Istomin went for so long the Serb joked they should go straight to a tie-breaker.

The hilarious moment came after the number two seed finally held serve after a mammoth 16-minute opening game against the Uzbek, during their second round clash.

Djokovic threw his arms up in the air like he had won the match, when in reality it was just the first game.

The chair umpire saw how much it took out of both players and decided to let them have a break between games, much earlier than usual.

Djokovic and Istomin started chatting away when the 6-time champion jokingly suggested they speed up the contest.

"We should just go to the tie-break if you want," Djokovic fired over to Istomin before both players took in some much needed hydration.

The commentator summed it best by observing "there are sets that don't last much longer than that opening game."

It actually proved to be a telling point in the match as Istomin, who had never beaten a top-10 player at a major, aggressively went after the second seed to post a remarkable 7-6 (10-8) 5-7 2-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 second-round upset.

It was the first time that 12-time grand slam champion Djokovic had failed to make the third round of a major since Wimbledon in 2008.
