Kyrgios makes strong political statement at Fast4 tennis

After his win over Rafa Nadal at the Fast4 tennis on Monday night, Kyrgios fronted the media wearing an anti-Donald Trump t-shirt.

The shirt pictured Trump's head with devil horns added on, crosses over his eyes and a four letter word aimed at the President-elect.

Kyrgios was asked about the meaning of the shirt, and replied "it's pretty explanatory."

The 21-year-old claimed he was forced into the choice of apparel after his laundry failed to arrive, leaving him unable to sport his customary Nike attire.

However he appeared soon after in a Nike shirt to watch Bernard Tomic play.

Kyrgios' statement came on the same day that Meryl Streep blasted Trump in her acceptance speech at the Golden Globe awards.

"Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners, and if you kick us all out, you'll have nothing to watch except for football and mixed martial arts, which are not arts," Streep said.

"But who are we, and what is Hollywood anyway? It's just a bunch of people from other places."

Meanwhile, Kyrgios plans to exercise "extreme caution" to give himself every chance of overcoming a worrying knee injury and contending for Australian Open glory.

Kyrgios is relying on a course of cortisone to help him through the season's first grand slam starting on Monday, but is feeling considerably more upbeat after taking down Nadal in a Fast4 exhibition match.
