Genie Bouchard deputises as Bondi lifeguard

Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has tried her hand at being a lifeguard at Bondi ahead of the Apia International in Sydney.

Bouchard paid a visit to the world famous beach on Saturday and learned the ropes from some of the lifeguards.

"The beach is my paradise, it's my favourite thing in the world," she said.

The world No.46 was at her cheeky best, messing around with some of the beachgoers.

"I got to roll in the little beach cruiser and I was yelling out 'shark' to everyone."

Bouchard was the recipient of a wildcard entry into the Sydney International, where she will be looking to end a recent run of poor form.

The 2014 Wimbledon finalist is deep in a multi-season drop in form which has left the former top five player at 46th in the world rankings.

She began 2017 with a first-round loss in Brisbane on Sunday.
