Dominic Thiem's 'nightmare' run continues after announcement
Former World No.3 Dominic Thiem made his return to tennis after a horror run of injuries in 2021 and things only got worse for the Austrian a few days after his return.
Thiem, a two-time French Open finalist and US Open winner, looked to for the longest time the player that would surpass the 'Big Three' as the NextGen rose through the ranks.

However, after his maiden grand slam victory, Thiem suffered a re-occurring wrist injury that has sidelined him for more than nine months.
The 28-year-old Austrian finally made his comeback at a challenger event in Marbella Spain this week, which he lost in straight sets to Pedro Cachin.
Thiem was also quick to look on the positive sides after making his long-awaited return to tennis after admitting his joy at being back on the court.
But, only two days after his return, Thiem announced he tested positive for Covid-19.
Looks like lately the good news don’t last long - last night after dinner, I started feeling unwell and didn’t have a good night. After developing mild symptoms I decided to take a test this morning, which came back positive for COVID-19.

Thiem, who twice finished runner-up at Roland Garros and once at the Australian Open before winning the 2020 US Open title, said it was a day with "big emotions and mixed feelings" following his return to tennis.
"You can imagine how happy I was today to be on a tennis court, doing what I love the most: playing tennis and competing again," he said in an Instagram post, adding that the defeat was the "bitter part".
"After all these months, all those setbacks I had in the past few months, I was able to play again to feel the adrenaline of the competition. I felt like a player again."
Fans will be hoping Thiem is fighting fit in time for the clay court season.
