Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic news sends tennis world into raptures

Rafa Nadal's coach has announced that the Spaniard will play in the Paris Masters before entering the ATP Finals, just before Novak Djokovic confirmed he will also play both end-of-year tournaments.

Nadal has been enjoying time away from the ATP Tour after he and his wife, Mery 'Xisca' Perello, welcomed the arrival of their first child.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a remarkable 2022 season, which has seen him win the Australian Open, Roland Garros and reach the Wimbledon semi-final.

However, an abdominal injury and his reoccurring foot issue has hampered his season and he hasn't played a match on Tour since the US Open.

While Nadal did compete with Roger Federer in doubles at the Laver Cup to farewell his rival, the 36-year-old has since returned home.

Nadal's participation in the year's final showcase event has been questioned.

However, in promising news, coach Carlos Moya has confirmed that Nadal will participate in the Paris Masters to help him prepare for the ATP Finals in Turin.

"Before arriving in Turin, you have to play matches in Paris, which are similar,” Moya told Balearic broadcast IB3.

Following the birth of his child, Nadal was seen back at the Rafa Nadal Academy training.

He has remained in Mallorca as he builds up match fitness before his now confirmed return on October 31 at the Paris Masters.

Nadal has never won the Paris Masters, which could be a determining factor to why the 22-time grand slam champion is preparing for one last push.

"He has not been able to win it, but he has achieved good results and has come close to doing so on several occasions,” Moya explained.

“We always have hope and illusion, because Rafael is competitive anywhere.”

Novak Djokovic returns to Paris Masters

Djokovic had already confirmed his participation in the ATP Finals after recently qualifying having suffered for qualification due to Wimbledon points not counting in 2022.

However, his coach had raised uncertainty over his participation at the Paris Masters next week.

But in promising news, Djokovic will join Nadal in Paris for back-to-back tournaments.

The tennis world was quick to praise the exciting news to finish off the 2022 season.

The occasion marks only the second time this year the World No.1, No.2 and No.3 will play in the same tournament.

Both of these tournaments are in Paris.

While Nadal has only just confirmed his participation in the two events, he had already announced he would be playing exhibition matches in South America to end the year.

The exhibition matches will take place after the ATP Finals in Turin, with Casper Ruud and Nadal having already qualified for the Final 8 tournament.

But in an exciting development, 80s and 90s tennis icon Gabriela Sabatini took to social media to extend a mixed doubles invitation to Nadal.

And the Spaniard reportedly has accepted the offer for an enticing match-up for tennis fans.
