Teenage tennis star caught in awkward Eugenie Bouchard moment
Felix Auger-Aliassime had to endure an awkward moment on live TV recently when a show’s host levelled a cheeky sledge at Eugenie Bouchard.
Auger-Aliassime, a 18-year-old Canadian newcomer who recently rocketed into the World’s top 30 players, was appearing on French-Canadian show Tout Le Monde En Parle when the incident occurred.
Speaking to Auger-Aliassime, host Guy A. Lepage pointed out the success of Canadian tennis players in recent times.
“Milos Raonic is 15th in the world, Denis Shapovalov is 20th, Bianca Andreescu, who is 18 like you, is 23rd,” Lepage said, before some not-so-kind words about Bouchard.
“And Eugenie Bouchard is on Instagram,” he said.
Auger-Aliassime initially laughed along with the crowd, before offering no further comment.
The 18-year-old showed great maturity not to pile on after the host’s comments, instead choosing to speak about the success of the other players mentioned.
Bouchard’s social media exploits are well documented, with 1.9 million followers on Instagram alone.

However it hasn’t translated to success on the court.
The former World No.5 has suffered through some horrible form over the last few years, unable to match the highs she first experienced when she entered the pro tour.
After reaching the world’s top-five in October 2014, it’s all been downhill.
The Canadian fell outside the top 150 for the first time since 2012 last year.
Auger-Aliassime stuns tennis world
As for Auger-Aliassime, he became the youngest player in the 35-year history of the Miami Open to reach the semi-finals of the ATP 1000 event last week.
The stunning win took his career record against top-20 opponents to an astonishing 5-0.
It also made him the third-youngest semi-finalist at an ATP 1000 tournament since 1990.
The teenager has a 14-7 win-loss record on the ATP Tour in 2019, including reaching the final in Rio de Janeiro and the last eight in Sao Paulo.
