Teammates combine for one of the most spectacular catches ever

Two players in India’s domestic Twenty20 competition have combined for one of the most spectacular team catches you will ever see.

The crazy incident happened in the match between Maharashtra and Railways in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament.

Railways bowler Manjeet Singh went for glory as he smashed a Maharashtra delivery long and high towards the mid-on boundary.

The ball looked to be sailing over the ropes until one of the Maharashtra players made the most extraordinary of interventions.

Fielding in the deep, the best Rahul Tripathi could do was take a desperate lunging grab that was sending him over the boundary rope.

However, in a moment of sheer brilliance the Maharashtra opening batsman flicked the ball around his back, just before his foot landed on the other side of the boundary rope.

The skill involved in taking catch was incredible enough but the ability to hurl it around his back while in mid-air was something else.

Teammate Divyang Himganekar was on hand to complete the spectacular team catch, leaving commentators and viewers in awe.

Remarkably, Maharashtra pulled off the astonishing play having already won the match – with Railways needing an impossible 22 runs off that final ball.

The epic catch brings back memories of last year’s amazing effort that saw Jake Lehmann and Jake Weatherald combine for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League.
