Tara Davis-Woodhall and her husband, Hunter Woodhall, will compete together once again.

On Feb. 11, it was revealed in an official release that the Para National Championships will be combined with the Outdoor Championships – a historic first for Team USA and a move that will see the couple at the same meet for the first time since college.

“We have never had the same TEAM USA trials because able body and para have always been separated,” the couple wrote in a caption to an Instagram video they posted on Feb. 12 reacting to the decision.

“So grateful to see equality for everyone,” continued the two athletes. “Feel so seen by Team USA and USATF.”

The news was first announced by USA Track & Field (USATF) after the Paralympic track and field program joined the national governing body in January. The combined meet will take place at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene from July 31 to Aug. 2. Tickets for the 2025 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships will also serve as tickets for the USATF Para National Championships, according to the USATF's release.

“This meet will be momentous for the sport because we don’t often get the opportunity to showcase able-bodied and Para sport side by side,” Sherrice Fox, the director of Paralympics Track & Field, said in their statement.

“It will not only determine which of our athletes we take with us to worlds, but also will be the first time that fans will get to see Para sport contested at USATF Outdoor Championships,” she continued. “We are so excited to set the cornerstone for what will hopefully be many more combined meets in the future.”

Tara, who won gold in the women’s long jump at the 2024 Summer Olympics, and Hunter, a Paralympic medalist, are set to compete.

The couple, who married in 2022, have caught attention for their athletic prowess and support for one another. After Tara won Olympic gold, Hunter was quick to give her a loving hug from the stands.

“Babe, you’re the Olympic champion!” Hunter, 26, told her in the joyous moment that quickly went viral.

“I haven’t been on social media that much, so I don’t know how viral it’s gone!” Tara, 25, told PEOPLE in August 2024, after the event at the Team USA house in Paris.

“Everyone’s been telling me the whole world’s been seeing it, [but] that’s just Hunter and I,” she said. “He’s my biggest supporter, and I guess the whole world got to see how much he supports me.”

The star athlete was by her husband’s side at the Paralympic Games in the city of light later that month. Hunter, a double-amputee sprinter, went on to win his first gold in the men’s 400m T62 final. In an ode to Tara’s win weeks earlier, Hunter hugged his wife after the event once again.
