What would make a successful 2025?
Newcastle start the new year arguably looking as good as they ever have under Eddie Howe's management.
After early-season inconsistencies, they have hit top form and have rediscovered their identity as an intense and exciting attacking team.
Winning a trophy remains the priority, so they will put everything into their Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal and home advantage in the second leg could be crucial.
However, ongoing speculation about the futures of some star names is frustrating for fans.
Keeping the likes of Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes at St James' Park for the next few seasons is key but, despite profit and sustainibility, the club obviously has no desire to sell them.
Silverware and more Champions League football would also show that Newcastle is a place where top players can achieve things.
The club are indicating that January might be a quiet month, but, after two disappointing transfer windows, they do need to strengthen, particularly at right wing and right centre-back.
Moving on more fringe players - rather than the big hitters - is also likely to be part of the transfer strategy under new sporting director Paul Mitchell in 2025.
