Struggling Bouchard slumps to stunning six-year low

Eugenie Bouchard’s spectacular slide down the WTA rankings her seen her achieve an unwanted six-year first.

The former World No.5 has suffered through some horrible form over the last few years, unable to match the highs she first experienced when she entered the pro tour.

After reaching the world’s top-five in October 2014, it’s all been downhill.

Currently sitting at World No.118, the Canadian is set to fall outside the top 150 for the first time since 2012.

Bouchard won’t be able to defend her points from reaching the Madrid Open quarter-finals in 2017, which will see her fall to around the 170-mark next week.

Her lowly ranking saw her miss out on automatic qualification for this year’s Madrid Open, and she wasn’t considered for a wild card.

In March a New York jury found in Bouchard’s favour in her lawsuit against the US Tennis Association over her locker room fall at the 2015 US Open.

After the jury found the organising body was largely liable for Bouchard’s fall, which left her with a concussion, the two parties reached an undisclosed financial settlement.

Since that accident, the 23-year-old has been unable to replicate the success that saw her rise as high as No.5 in the world.

She has, however, remained a popular figure thanks to a strong social media presence and her appearance in the swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated magazine.
