Strikers stars combine for incredible BBL boundary catch
The Adelaide Strikers have proven to be the kings of the boundary catch with an incredible team effort in their victory over Sydney Thunder.
Jake Weatherald and Jake Lehmann combined for a brilliant catch to dismiss Shane Watson in Monday night’s New Year’s Eve clash in the BBL.
Watson thought he had six runs after skying a shot deep to log on, but was undone by some incredible quick thinking.
Weatherald took the catch just inside the boundary, before his weight pushed him over the rope.
But just as his foot was about to land outside the field of play, he flicked the ball straight to Lehmann to complete the catch.
But it certainly wasn’t a fluke, with Weatherald also part of one of the greatest catches of all time in last year’s Big Bash, taken in similar fashion.
no way… not again?!?!? #BBL08

The Thunder fell 20 runs short of victory, with Rashid Khan snaring two emotional wickets after the death of his father.
Ingram finds form with brutal knock
Earlier, Adelaide captain Colin Ingram smashed six sixes as he bulldozed his way back to form to lead the Strikers to 4-175.
From the moment Ingram won the toss and elected to bat, the Strikers looked to go after the Thunder attack at Adelaide Oval but the visitors managed to stem the bleeding in the innings back half to give themselves a fighting chance.
Ingram smoked 75 off 43 balls – his best score in the BBL – and gloveman Alex Carey scored 59 off 40.
Weatherald (11) departed early, chipping a sharp return catch to leggie Jonathan Cook, but Carey continued to charge, scoring 40 of the Strikers’ first 52 runs.
Carey smacked Fawad Ahmed for six to raise his 50 before spooning Daniel Sams to Thunder captain Shane Watson at cover to end a 75-run second-wicket partnership with Ingram.
Ingram, who had scored just 24 runs at just 8.00 leading into the match, was dropped on the boundary by Jason Sangha on 44 and then belted 22 off the next over from Cook as the Strikers looked on target for a 200-plus total.
But when the skipper slogswept Ahmed’s flighted wrong’un to Sams, the Strikers’ innings lost momentum. The hosts were held to 3-69 from their last 10 overs after smashing 1-106 from their first 10.
Crafty spinner Chris Green, who bowled a maiden in the 18th over, and left-arm seamer Daniel Sams (2-24) were the pick of the bowlers for the second-placed Thunder who will need to score at 8.8 an over.
