Storm Chaser Follows 'Powerful' Tornado in Hamilton County, Iowa

An Iowa storm chaser filmed a “powerful” tornado moving along the ground near Jewell, in Hamilton County, after a warning was issued by the National Weather Service on July 14.

The footage, shot by Clarence Smith, shows the twister looming over the area.

“Strong tornado that moved over rural parts of Central Iowa for about 40 minutes Wednesday afternoon. Started in Webster and ended in Hamilton [county]. No observed structural damage, mostly shredded crops,” Smith told Storyful. Credit: @clarencewlsmith via Storyful
