Steelers up to second as Devils suffer winless weekend

There were contrasting weekends for Sheffield Steelers and Cardiff Devils in the Elite League.

Steelers backed up Saturday's 5-2 win at Glasgow Clan with a 3-0 win over Devils on Sunday.

First period goals from Robert Dowd and Dominic Cormier and Patrick Watling's effort five minutes from time secured a convincing win over the Welsh side at Utilita Arena.

Steelers move up to second in the table, seven points behind leaders Belfast Giants, with a game in hand.

Devils drop to fourth, with Nottingham Panthers also moving above them after Saturday's 3-2 victory in Cardiff.

Devils have a game in hand over Steelers and Panthers, and have played two less than Giants. They will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday when they host Coventry Blaze on Saturday, 8 February.
