NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has been trolled for a rather bizarre social media post ahead of State of Origin.

The premier took to social media on Wednesday afternoon at 4pm to show her support for her state in State of Origin with the first game held in Townsville.

But the photo showed the premier with her back to the camera, wrapped in a Blues scarf and wearing a beanie.

She was also holding an unopened can of Coke Zero.

The odd photo, four hours from kick off, sparked a flurry of tweets taking aim at the bizarre tweet.

Some fans couldn't get over the staged photo, from the unopened can of Coke, or the fact coverage hadn't even started for Origin at 4pm.

Fans also took to social media to mock her pose.

The NSW Blues will be looking to regain the trophy, despite two games in Queensland for the 2021 series.

Townsville is hosting the first ever regional State of Origin game for Game One.
