Sickening Bailey injury completes Hurricanes' BBL misery
Viewers have been left devastated after a sickening injury saw Hobart veteran George Bailey taken from the field in the Big Bash semi-final.
The horrible moment happened late in the six wicket loss against the Melbourne Stars at Blundstone Arena on Thursday night as the home side’s incredible season ended in despair.
After his side were restricted to 7-153 with the bat, Bailey put his body on the line to try and defend the score.
However, the Hurricanes fan favourite came down awkwardly on his shoulder after trying to prevent a Stars boundary.
The Hurricanes veteran dived at full stretch to reach the ball but landed painfully on the wrong point.
Bailey was immediately attended to by medical staff and ushered off the ground with his own shirt acting as a makeshift sling.
The sickening incident left viewers squeamish on social media.

Wishing Bailey only the very best. Definitely feel for him going off with that injury and hope it's only a dislocation rather than a break – dislocation is bad enough🤕💛 @HurricanesBBL #BBL08 #TasmaniasTeam

The cruel blow added injury to insult for the Hurricanes, who crashed out of the finals at the first hurdle after being the best side all season.
Daniel Worrall set up the win for the Stars with a sensational spell of bowling that saw him finish with figures of 4-23.
An unbeaten partnership between Stars captain Glenn Maxwell (43 not out) and Seb Gotch saw the Stars get home with seven balls to spare.
Skipper Maxwell played a cool hand after coming to the crease at 3-78.
The knock, that included just four boundaries, came days after Maxwell smacked 82 to get the Stars past Sydney Sixers and into the top four.
Afghani teen sensation Qais Ahmad kept the Hurricanes in the match with 3-33 in the middle overs.
The legspinner produced some magical deliveries, including an unplayable ball to clean bowl the dangerous Marcus Stoinis for 18.
But it wasn’t enough, with Seb Gotch (33no from 22) sealing the win emphatically with a six over cover.
The Stars await the winner of the Melbourne Renegades and the Sixers, who meet in the other elimination semi-final on Friday night.
It was an abrupt end to BBL08 for the Hurricanes, who finished two games clear atop the table and were previously unbeaten this season in Hobart.
Earlier, Worrall took career-best Twenty20 figures as the Hurricanes wobbled to 7-153 after being sent in.
Worrall, considered an Ashes smoky for Australia, had the ball nipping early and dismissed in-form opener Matthew Wade for just two with his first ball.
He dismissed in-form opener Matthew Wade for just two with his first ball and then cleaned bowled rookie Caleb Jewell as the Hurricanes fell to 2-5.
The early trouble didn’t faze D’Arcy Short, who mounted a counter-attack.
But when he holed out for 35 to long-on off the leg-spin of Adam Zampa, it left Hobart in a spot of bother at 3-42 after the powerplay.
McDermott and Bailey resurrected the innings with a 75-run partnership but went eight overs without hitting a boundary.
Bailey (37 from 33 balls) unleashed two massive sixes off Zampa to break the shackles but became Worrall’s third victim when he couldn’t clear long on.
McDermott holed out to Dwayne Bravo in the 18th over, as the Hurricanes lost three wickets in the last three overs.
