Shocking moment French Open star screams at ball kid

Argentine Leonardo Mayer won his first round clash at Roland Garros on Sunday against Jiri Vesely, but the match was not without its controversy.

Mayer progressed 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, 6-0 and will face countryman Diego Schwartzman in the second round.

But during his comfortable victory over Vesely, Mayer appeared to scream at the ball kid after some confusion to whether the ball was still in play.

A break down in the first set, Mayer approached the net for a smash after a strong serve only for the chair umpire to call a very late let.

But the ball kid appeared to pick up on the let call earlier and ran onto the court to collect the ball.

After a moments hesitation, Mayer smashed the ball and let out a scream while staring at the ball kid.

The Argentine then strolled slowly back to the service line cutting a frustrated figure as the point had to be replayed.

It didn’t matter for Mayer who went on to hold serve and break back to take out the first set in a tie breaker.
