Shane Warne 'still furious' over infamous escapade

Shane Warne has revealed he’s still angry over one of the most scandalous moments of his career.

In his new autobiography, ‘No Spin’, Warnie opens up on his infamous night with two UK models, which made front page headlines around the world.

Video of the 2006 escapade was sold to the media by one of the women, leaving Warnie furious.

And in his autobiography, the Aussie cricket legend reveals he’s still fuming to this day.

Warne says he received a phone call from the editor of News of the World, who said they had the footage.

He then called Coralie Eichholtz, one of the women involved, who said the other woman had set up a hidden camera and sold the video.

Warnie was seething over the betrayal, and says he still is.

“I’ve always struggled to deal with these tabloid stories,” he writes.

“What sort of person hides a camera and then sells the pictures?

“I’m not a criminal … yes, I’m into women, which has cost me massively, time after time.

“To me, only a pretty sad mind goes undercover to make a few bucks out of a friend and a guy she’s never met before.

“Either that or Coralie was lying and she set the whole thing up. Then it’s even worse.”

What really happened with Liz Hurley

The 49-year-old admits there was “no single, clear reason” why he split with Liz Hurley, although he hints the time she spent with ex Hugh Grant may have played a factor.

“The more you’re apart, the more you ask questions,” he writes.

“I got jumpy about the time Elizabeth still spent with Hugh Grant…

“He is her best friend but they saw each other more when I wasn’t around so, well, you know.”

Warne says they still care for one another “deeply”.

“We still love each other in many ways — we’re not in love, like we were — but I still care for her deeply,” he says.

“I think we were good for each other and I know that I miss the love we had.”

Old Waugh wounds re-opened

Warnie has also re-ignited his feud with ex-captain Steve Waugh, describing him as ‘the most selfish cricketer’ he ever played with.

Waugh dropped Warne for the fourth Test in the West Indies in 1999, even though he was vice-captain, leaving the spinner feeling betrayed yet again.

“Disappointed is not a strong enough word. When the crunch came Tugga didn’t support me, and I felt so totally let down by someone who I had supported big time and was also a good friend,” Warne writes.

“During the first three Tests, at various times some of the bowlers came to me, grumbling about Tugga’s captaincy and field placements and stuff.

“I said I was backing him to the hilt and if they had a problem with the captain they should go see him direct. Perhaps because of this, I was deeply disappointed that he didn’t back me in return.

“Steve Waugh was the most selfish player I ever played with and was only worried about averaging 50.

“It was about a lack of loyalty. Pretty childish, I know, but that’s the way it was.”
