Scheffler, McIlroy vs. DeChambeau, Koepka in The Showdown: What to know
This story has been updated to reflect the correct time of the live broadcast.
"I hate LIV. I hope it goes away." Those were the exact words Rory McIlroy told reporters in the video above. That was over a year ago though, and now, he's competing in the 2024 edition of The Match against LIV golfers Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
McIlroy will not have to face them alone though. The four-time major champion will be partnered up with world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. The foursome will take to Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas for this year's affair, the same venue for the first-ever Match in 2018, when Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods went head-to-head and hole-to-hole.
It appears McIlroy's hostility toward LIV and their golfers has evaporated. LIV seems to have that effect on people. After all, the fact that DeChambeau and Koepka were able to bury the hatchet amid their decisions to join the LIV Tour shows the pair have come full circle, going from bitter enemies to partners representing their new company.
Here's everything to know about the upcoming round.

What to know about the setting for The Showdown
Shadow Creek Golf Course is heralded for its fantastic view and layout. It is considered one of Nevada's greatest public courses and was even named Nevada's top public access course by Golfweek.
This was the same course where the first Match between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson back in 2018 took place. Mickelson won the match after 22 holes, including four playoff holes. No editions of The Match have taken place at this course since.
What is the format for the tournament?
Although most renditions of The Match are 12 holes long, this battle between PGA and LIV will be a full 18. Those 18 holes will be divided into three sections of six, with the first six being best ball, holes 7-12 being alternate shot, and singles closing out the final six holes.
What is the prize pool for the event?
The winning team will take home a multimillion-dollar pool. Surprisingly, the entire pool will be paid out in cryptocurrency. The prize money will come in the form of CRO Cronos, the native token of Crypto.com.
