Ryan Garcia development leaves boxing world stunned after epic win over Devin Haney

The boxer has blasted the allegations as Devin Haney let rip after the news.

The boxing world has erupted after reports allege Ryan Garcia tested positive for a banned substance ahead of his unanimous decision victory over Devin Haney. In the highest-profile boxing fight so far in 2024, Garcia stunned fans around the world as his left hook sent the undefeated Haney to the canvas three times as he defeated the star in April.

Garcia didn't take Haney's belts because he weighed-in three pounds over the 140 pound limit at super lightweight. Regardless, the world was left stunned as Garcia repeatedly dropped Haney and proved his mettle at welterweight. However, after missing weight, ESPN reporter Dan Rafael has alleged Garcia has failed a doping test for Ostarine.

And in a bizarre move, Garcia went on a rant using Platform X to mock the findings. He then hit out at the reports and denied doping. “Fake f***ing news, don’t believe these f***ers, bro. I never f***ing took a steroid in my f***ing life,” he said. “If they had this information, they should have released this before the fight went down.

“Why would you let a cheater step into the ring? All of a sudden, I win and then you release it? Seems kind of fishy to me. I know in my heart of hearts I didn’t cheat. At the end of the day I’m definitely innocent.”

Haney released a statement to ESPN and claimed his team was aware of the reports and would wait for a decision. “We learned about this situation not too long ago and it’s unfortunate Ryan cheated and disrespected both the fans and the sport of boxing by fighting dirty and breaking positive not once, but twice,” the statement read.

“I’ve always been an advocate for clean fighting and this is an example of such. Ryan owes the fans an apology, and by his recent tweet he still thinks this is a joke. We put our lives on the line to entertain people for a living. You don’t play boxing."

Garcia now has 10 days to request a B-sample to be tested as he fights to clear his name. Haney could push for a no contest and keep his undefeated record if Garcia fails the second sample. Regardless, Garcia has been slammed in the boxing world following his antics of not making weight.

There were claims Garcia made around $50 million from the fight after many had ruled him out ahead of the bout because of his erratic behaviour. Garcia was often going on social media rants, before he missed weight and left boxing fans questioning if he was preparing properly for the fight.

Except in the opening seconds of the fight he clipped Haney with his famous left-hook and Haney never recovered. He knocked down Haney three times during the fight and nearly got the stoppage.

“Come on guys, you really thought I was crazy?” Garcia yelled after the fight in his post-match interview. Haney admitted he didn't see the opening left-hook coming. “He caught me early when I was sleeping on it,” Haney admitted. “He caught me by surprise.”
