Four days to go: Chester Williams tears apart Samoa

With just four days left until the Rugby World Cup kicks off we continue our countdown looking back at one of the great individual performances from a Springboks legend.

Winger Chester Williams scored four tries in his first ever World Cup match, a quarter final against Samoa in 1995.

Williams, or ‘The Black Pearl’ as he was nicknamed, was a late call up to the squad for the match after initially being left out of the team due to injury.

His impact was immediate with South Africa easing into the semi-finals after a 42-14 defeat of Samoa.

The Springboks went on to win the Rugby World Cup that year.
