'What a roost!': Daniher long bomb sends AFL into frenzy

The Essendon Bombers had a tough time of it in the first half of the Anzac Day clash against Collingwood, but a massive moment from Joe Daniher might have jolted them into action.

Daniher marked outside the 50 metre mark after the half-time siren had blown, with the Bombers facing a three-goal deficit at the main break.

After he was a shock inclusion ahead of round five last weekend, the Bombers young gun issued a timely reminder why he is considered one of the most promising forwards in the game

Daniher absolutely crushed the shot from well outside 50, sending Bombers fans into absolute meltdown.

Collingwood took a 15-point lead into the long break, having dominated the first quarter.

The Bombers were able to regroup at quarter time and came out with a much-improved showing in the second quarter.

Highlights a’plenty

Joe Daniher wasn’t the only player to put on a show in the first half.

Collingwood dynamo Will Hoskin-Elliot soared for a massive mark over Bombers player Matt Guelfi, practically jumping clean over his opponent.

Hoskin-Elliot also made another high-flying aerial attempt later in the third quarter.

The running battle between Daniher and Magpies defender Darcy Moore captivated the crowd, with both players impressing early in the match.
