'F*** everything': Ronda Rousey flags potential retirement

Ronda Rousey has flagged the surprise possibility that her days as an athlete are done.

The 32-year-old is taking a break from her WWE career to start a family with her husband, the former UFC fighter Travis Browne.

The former UFC champion is currently recovering from surgery after breaking a knuckle during the WrestleMania main event.

She had two screws inserted into her hand and will wear a cast on a holiday around the world.

As for what comes after that, Rousey has revealed she isn’t sure just yet.

“As for WWE plans in the future, we want to have a baby first,” she said.

“I don’t know what it’s like to have a baby. I could look down at this beautiful child and be like, ‘f*** everything. I don’t care about anything else other than this baby’ and you’ll never see me again.”

Browne, for his part, expects his wife to return: “You’ll see her again.”

Rousey planned to stay with the WWE for only a few months, having approached the company after ending her UFC career.

“And then it just kind of snowballed into instead of being like a small detour in my life,” she said.

“It became my whole life for an entire year and I fell in love with it.”

Did she love it enough to return?

As Rousey explained, she doesn’t know how she will feel once she holds her baby in her arms but she didn’t rule out the possibility of a return.

“I could be like my mum, who trained while she was eight months pregnant and then won the US Open six weeks after giving birth, which was unbelievable,” she said.

“I don’t think I’m going to try and aspire to her level. But I’m just saying, you never know.

“The thing is, I don’t want to make any promises about the future when I don’t know how I’m going to feel in the future.”
