Usain Bolt will compete in the men's 200m semi-finals from 11:00am today, then final is at 11:30am tomorrow.

1:40am - BASKETBALL: The Australian men's basketball team are guaranteed to play for an historic Olympic medal after toppling Lithuania 90-64 in the quarter-finals in Rio.

6:00am - DIVING: Australia's Melissa Wu and Brittany O'Brien have moved through to the Rio Olympic 10m platform semi-finals.

4:45am - EQUESTRIAN: Edwina Tops-Alexander and Matt Williams have qualified for the final round of the individual showjumping competition, as the pair chase Australia's first Olympic medals in the equestrian discipline.

4:30am - BMX: Australian Sam Willoughby qualified third fastest in the men's BMX, while Caroline Buchanan qualified second fastest in the women's BMX.

Latvia's Edžus Treimanis came off his bike heavily early in his run at the Rio BMX qualifiers.

3:00am - SAILING: Mat Belcher and Will Ryan's Men’s 470 Medal Race has been postponed until tomorrow due to a lack of wind.

2:00am - FOOTBALL: Neymar has sent his home crowd wild, scoring the quickest goal in Olympic history, after just 16 seconds against Honduras.

1:10am - WATERPOLO: The Australian women's water polo team have downed hosts Brazil 11-4 in their Rio Olympic classification clash.

11:30pm - ROWING SCANDAL: Bulgarian rower Georgi Bozhilov has addressed allegations against him of an assault on cleaners in the Olympic village.

11:15pm - RUNNING: Aussie Brett Robinson has qualified for the men’s 5000m final after being ninth across the line in 13 minutes 22.81 seconds. Fellow Australians Sam McEntee and Patrick Tiernan were eliminated.

11pm - CANOEING: Aussies Lachlan Tame and Ken Wallace have cruised into the men's K2 1000m semi-final after finishing second, behind Serbia.
