12:02pm - Track and Field: There were horrible scenes as Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie was roundly booed by Brazilian fans as he collected his silver medal in the pole vault.

Lavillenie, who hit out at the host nation's fans for their conduct during Tuesday's pole vault final, won by Brazilian Thiago Braz da Silva, had tears streaming down his face on the podium after being jeered for a second night running. FULL STORY.

11:40am - Track and Field: Aussie sprinter Ella Nelson ran the race of her life in the 200m semi final at RIo.

She ran a personal best but sadly finished ninth overall and missed out on making the final by just 0.01s.

10:40am - Track and Field: Australian javelin thrower Kim Mickle has been taken from the field by medical staff after re-injuring her shoulder at the Rio Olympics.

Mickle was seen supporting her right arm and grimacing in pain following a poor final throw in Wednesday's qualifying rounds. FULL STORY.

10:25am - Track and Field: Usain Bolt is a rock star. But he should probably never sing on live television again.

10:02am - Track and Field: Haiti's Jeffrey Julmis has suffered every hurdler's worst nightmare, failing to clear the first hurdle in the 100m semi-finals.

With a spot in the final on the line, Julmis didn't even get close as his lead leg fell way short of clearing the obstacle. FULL STORY.

9:40am - Basketball: This is one of the great buzzer beaters of all time.

And because it happened in a knockout game, at the Olympics the scenes afterwards are just awesome. Spain for the win, Turkey for the heartbreak.

8:24am - Olympics: Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres defended herself on Tuesday after some claimed that a humorous Usain Bolt tweet sent out from her social media accounts a day earlier was racist.

DeGeneres insisted she was not racist after posting a photo of her riding on Bolt's back during Sunday's 100m semifinals with the suggestion she would like to use the Jamaican sprinter's world-class speed to get her errands done faster. FULL STORY.

8:05am - Swimming: Already adored for her winsome facial expressions and joyful over-enthusiasm, Chinese swimmer Fu Yuanhui has won fresh praise online for speaking frankly about having her period while competing in Rio.

Long a taboo subject for female athletes, the 20-year-old -- whose goofy, charming pool-side antics have turned her into a viral sensation -- explained frankly why she'd looked tired at the end of the 4x100-metre medley relay, where the Chinese team placed fourth. FULL STORY.

7:50am - Track and Field: Australian runner Eloise Wellings appeared to question whether Almaz Ayana is clean after the Ethiopian's jaw-dropping performance in the 5000m.

Wellings led an Australian trio of runners into the women's 5000m final then joined the growing chorus questioning the validity of Ayana's staggering speed. FULL STORY.

6:43am - Basketball: Australia's female basketballers were left in shock after losing to Serbia 73-71 in the quarter-finals of the Rio Olympics.

6:40am - Track and Field: Another beautiful act of sportsmanship from the Games.

Abbey D’Agostino of the United States and Nikki Hamblin of New Zealand were involved in a collision that effectively ended any dreams of contending in Tuesday’s 5,000m qualifier.

But instead of acting frustrated or lashing out at one another, both women put on a beautiful display of the Olympic spirit that will live on long after these Rio Games are over. FULL STORY.

6:24am - Track and Field: Triple jumper Will Claye caught the love bug sweeping the Rio Olympics on Tuesday when he dropped to one knee to propose to his girlfriend after winning the silver medal.

6:15am - Diving: Reigning Olympic diving champion Ilya Zakharov bombed out of the 3-metre springboard competition after this epic bellyflop in the semi-finals.
