Diver wins silver, celebrates with a diamond
Chinese diver Qin Kai has proposed to his girlfriend and fellow diver He Zi after she claimed silver in the 3m springboard final.
He (387.90pts) was beaten by compatriot Shi Tingmao (406.05pts) for gold, but she came away with a diamond afterwards.

In touching scenes after the medal ceremony, Qin dropped down to one knee in front of the whole aquatic centre and proposed.

A shocked Zi was brought to tears before eventually saying yes, much to the delight of the packed crowd.
Qin is a three-time Olympian, having won gold in the 3m synchronised diving event in Beijing and London before winning bronze in Rio

It is the second engagement of Rio 2016 after a volunteer proposed to a Brazilian rugby player on-field after the finals:
Australia's Esther Qin and Maddison Keeney missed the podium. Keeney claimed fifth with 349.65 points from her five dives while Commonwealth Games champion Qin finished sixth (344.10) in the 12-strong final at Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre.
