Seebohm 'disappointed' with loss in backstroke finals

Australian swimmer Emily Seebohm has taken out seventh place in the women’s 100m backstroke finals after being tipped as the favourite in the lead up to the event.

After a strong start, Seebohm was sitting half a second behind the current world record before falling behind the pack after the turn.

The 24-year-old couldn’t hide her disappointment after the race.

“I trained really hard for this and a I’m a little bit disaapointed,” she told 7 News after the race. “It sucks a bit but that’s just how it is.”

"I know that I tried 100 per cent tonight and I couldn’t have done anymore so I'm proud of myself."

Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu claimed the gold medal, a second for her in Rio so far.

Madison Wilson, the only other Australian in the race, finish up in eighth position.
