Rickie Fowler extends endorsement deal with Cobra Puma Golf

Cobra Puma Golf announced Tuesday that Rickie Fowler has agreed to a long-term extension of his endorsement deal with the club company and the apparel and footwear brand. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed, but Cobra Puma Golf stated in a release that Fowler, who signed with Puma in 2009 and Cobra in 2012 as the brands merged, will “continue to wear head-to-toe Puma Golf apparel and carry a full bag of Cobra clubs” for years to come.

Fowler, 36, was a standout junior player and the No. 1 amateur golfer in the world in 2007 and 2008 before starring at Oklahoma State. He was a member of the victorious 2007 U.S. Walker Cup team, turned pro in 2009, and has won six PGA Tour events, including the 2015 Players Championship. He has also played in five Ryder Cups and three Presidents Cups. His career-high world ranking is No. 4.

Fowler’s most recent win came at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, a week after he became one of only four players to shoot 62 in a major championship. He nearly won the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club.

Fowler was a member of the U.S. Olympic Golf Team in 2016 that competed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and has a tattoo of the Olympic rings on his right forearm.

“We are thrilled to officially extend our relationship with Rickie and look forward to continuing our work with him for many years,” Dan Ladd, president of Cobra Puma Golf, said in a statement. “Rickie is a special talent who brings a competitive spirit and style to the game that we absolutely love. We’re very excited to keep him in the fold and watch how his career continues to develop.”

While Fowler has not won a major championship or as many events as some stars, his impact on the game has been profound. His influence can be seen at every PGA Tour event. From the start, Fowler blended skateboard culture, motocross vibes and golf apparel to create his own style, featuring flat-brimmed hats, brightly colored shirts, white pants and sunglasses on the course at a time when many pros still wore khakis and modest polo shirts.

Fowler always wears orange on Sundays in homage to Oklahoma State, and it is hard to attend any PGA Tour event without spotting orange quarter-zips and polo shirts in the crowd. His image has been featured on billboards and in television advertisements for well over a decade.

“The clubs and apparel are as good as it gets, and the fact that they know what I look for in fashion and style gives me extra confidence on and off the course,” Fowler said. “While their products are incredible, I also truly value all the relationships I’ve built here throughout my career. Extending this partnership was a simple decision, and I’m excited to stay part of these amazing brands.”
