Reba Reunion! Melissa Peterman Joins Reba McEntire in NBC Comedy Pilot
It’s just like old times over on NBC: Melissa Peterman, who co-starred with Reba McEntire for six seasons on Reba, will reunite with McEntire on a new NBC comedy pilot, according to our sister site Deadline.
McEntire stars in the untitled sitcom — which was first announced in January — as Bobbie, who inherits her father’s restaurant and learns she’s now business partners with a half-sister she never knew she had. Peterman will play Gabby, a bartender at the restaurant. “She is a bit needy and dramatic and would have loved to be Bobbie’s sister,” per the official description.

Additionally, Belissa Escobedo (Hocus Pocus 2, Blue Beetle) will play Isabella, Bobbie’s enthusiastic twentysomething half-sister. A psychology student who loves to analyze people, “she is thrilled to start working at the tavern and is full of ‘great’ ideas about how to bring it to life.” Also joining the cast: Rex Linn (CSI: Miami), aka McEntire’s real-life boyfriend, as cook Emmett; Tokala Black Elk (Yellowstone) as waiter Takoda; and Pablo Castelblanco (Alaska Daily) as accountant Steve.
Peterman is best known for playing ditzy dental hygienist Barbra Jean on Reba, which ran for five seasons on the WB before a final season on The CW. Barbra Jean and Reba started out at odds since Reba’s husband impregnated Barbra Jean, leading to their divorce, but by the series’ end, Reba had reluctantly accepted Barbra Jean as a close friend.
McEntire and Peterman reunited last year in the Lifetime movie The Hammer, playing sisters who get embroiled in a complicated murder plot. Both actresses also recur on CBS’ Young Sheldon, but they haven’t appeared together on screen there — at least not yet, anyway.
