During his opening monologue, Ramy advocated for the Palestinian people currently under assault by the state of Israel.

In his monologue, Ramy mentioned how he recently received a call from his friend in Gaza asking him to pray for him and his family. “I’m like, ‘Dude, I got you,'” he said.

Ramy also wore an Artists for Ceasefire pin at this year's Oscars — that's the pin on his lapel in the above picture.

“So that night, I go to pray, and my prayers are complicated. I’ve got a lot to fit in."

"I’m like, ‘God, please, please help Ahmed’s family. Please stop the suffering. Stop the violence. Please free the people of Palestine, please. And please free the hostages, all the hostages, please.”

“And while you’re at it, you know, free Mr. Bojangles," he concluded, referring to an earlier point in the monologue. "He’s a beautiful dog. I’m praying for that dog.”
