One lucky punter turned $10 into $240,000

Plenty of racegoers had a rough day on the track, but for one lucky punter it was all smiles after turning ten dollars into nearly a quarter of a million.

As Almandin just nudged past Heartbreak City in a nail-biter, this punter was cheering after picking not just the winner, but the first four in the correct order, with Hartnell and Qewy coming in behind them.

The outrageous bet landed them a cool $241,744.00.

Almandin came in from huge odds of $301 when the Cup market initially opened, with one lucky punter turning a $100 bet with Sportsbet into $30,100.

“Punters outsmarted us by backing Almandin at the ridiculously big odds of $301 earlier in the piece and even today they kept getting stuck into her,” Sportsbet’s Christian Jantzen said.

“The person who won nearly a quarter of a million dollars on the First Four is an absolute genius!”
