Super Saturday Arvo Racing on Seven

Saturday Arvo Racing is back at Flemington this weekend for the Group 1 weight-for-age Australian Cup and the $1.25m Newmarket Handicap.

Three-time Melbourne Cup winner Damien Oliver will be on favourite Bow Creek in the Australian Cup, after previously being linked to other competitors Suavito and Fenway. Having won the lead up Group 2 Peter Young Stakes race by almost two lengths in front of Fenway and Mourinho, Oliver would be claiming his 105th Group 1 win.

Superstar sprinter Chautauqua will be expected by many to take out the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap, after he delivered another superb victory last month at Flemington in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes.

Punters will also consider the Chris-Waller trained Japonisme after only losing narrowly to Chautauqua in the same race. While another of Waller’s runner Delectation has also beaten the favourite last spring in the Darley Classic.

The Australian Cup will be hosted by Bruce McAvaney, with expert analysis from Simon Marshall and Simon O’Donnell. Peter Donegan has all the news from the mounting yard, while Neil Kearney and Candice Dixon report on all the colour and characters from around the track.

As the free-to-air home of thoroughbred horseracing Seven broadcasts every major meeting on the Australian calendar including the Magic Millions, Sydney Easter Carnival, Stradbroke Handicap, Caulfield Cup Carnival, WS Cox Plate, and the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
