Premier League table 2024-25: Latest standings, fixtures and results after Man City beat Chelsea

The first points in the Premier League table are up for grabs this weekend.

Manchester United beat Fulham to get the new top-flight season underway on Friday night, with summer signing Joshua Zirkzee scoring a late winner on his debut.

But Liverpool soon leapfrogged them after beating newly-promoted Ipswich 2-0 in Arne Slot’s first competitive outing in charge on Saturday lunchtime before a busy 3pm schedule.

Arsenal beat Wolves 2-0 thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka, while 10-man Newcastle edged past Southampton. Brighton thrashed Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park, with Nottingham Forest drawing 1-1 against Bournemouth at the City Ground after a broken ankle suffered by midfielder Danilo.

Aston Villa then claimed a late 2-1 victory over West Ham in the Saturday evening kick-off.

Sunday saw the first London derby of the season as Brentford - without Ivan Toney - beat Crystal Palace before Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea were beaten at home by champions Manchester City.

Tottenham then round off the first weekend of action by traveling to Championship winners Leicester on Monday night.
