Players in tears over young NBA star's sickening injury
A young NBA star’s gruesome ankle break has left teammates and opponents in tears.
Brooklyn Nets star Caris LeVert went down with a sickening injury on Monday (local time) against the Timberwolves.
During the second quarter, LeVert jumped up at the rim to try and block a shot, but his ankle buckled horribly as he landed.
The weight of an opponent appeared to come crushing down on his rolled ankle, which was left at a gruesome angle as he lay on the court.
His Nets teammates, as well as Timberwolves players, huddled in prayer as LeVert was stretchered from the court, with many in tears.

Many commentators and reporters said LeVert’s injury was reminiscent of Gordan Hayward’s shocking injury from last season.
LeVert was enjoying a breakout year for the Nets in his third season.
He entered the game averaging 19 points per game and had developed into Brooklyn’s go-to player.
Sight of Caris LeVert's leg injury in Minnesota shook everyone on court. He has rapidly emerged into the cornerstone player of Nets rebuild — and been spectacular this season. He fought foot injuries at U of Michigan. He's been everything they've wanted in a young player.

LeVert left arena in ambulance for a nearby Minneapolis hospital/trauma center to undergo evaluation on his right leg.

Have been working on a LeVert feature. I can't overstate how much the Nets love him as a person almost even more than as a player. Interviewed him twice, certainly seems like a great guy. They consider him the keystone of what they are building. Just a devastating injury.

The Caris LeVert injury is heartbreaking. One of the season’s brightest rising stars, already a very good two-way player who seemed to get better every game for the Nets. He’s battled thru foot injuries to get to this stage. Hoping for a smooth recovery so he can keep ascending.
