Phil Mickelson shows off his shredded physique in beach photo

Phil Mickelson’s new-found forays into social media and body transformation reached their zenith on Wednesday after a beach photo shared by his sister caught the attention of the internet.

Mickelson joined Twitter last August and has quickly developed his social media niche highlighted by his self-deprecating “Phireside with Phil” chats.

He’s also spent much of the last year reworking his body, with his massive calves the envy of many a leg-strength enthusiast. He also went public with his six-day fast that he claims cut 15 pounds ahead of the Open Championship.

The weight loss didn’t do much for his golf game. He missed the cut at the Open and hasn’t finished better than 48th in a tournament since.

But it’s apparently done wonders for his physique. The once-doughy Lefty spent a family day at the beach recently and his sister Tina snapped a photo.

Mickelson let Tina bear the brunt of the online promotion, waiting to chime in with a not-so-subtle humblebrag.

While he looks fit, what will his new physique mean for his golf game? He missed the cut for the Tour Championship, so it will likely be a while before we see Mickelson play any truly meaningful golf.

We’ll have to wait and see if Mickelson maintains his new look through the holidays and whether he can translate it into success on the course next season.
