The Aussie and English captain embodied the spirit of cricket after a thrilling first Ashes test.
The cricket world has been left in awe at a photo of captains Pat Cummins and Ben Stokes only moments after one of the all-time great Test matches at Edgbaston in the first Ashes clash. Cummins and Nathan Lyon will go down in Ashes folklore having produced a 55-run ninth wicket partnership to help Australia chase down the target of 281 on day 5 to take a 1-0 lead against England.
Cummins scored an unbeaten 44 runs as Stokes dropped a catch off a Lyon pull shot in a drama-filled final session At Edgbaston. Cummins scored the winning runs at 7.21pm local time to end one of the classic Ashes contests.

The Aussie captain celebrated like had never done before, taking off his gloves and tossing his bat in euphoria. Stokes and the English team was left gutted having come so close to forcing a result due to their aggressive approach to the match.
Stokes admitted after the game he was 'devastated' having come so close to taking a huge 1-0 lead at home against the Aussies who currently hold the urn. However, the duo were spotted in a classy moment following match.
After the media commitments and the players congratulating each other on a remarkable Ashes test, Cummins and Stokes were pictured on the boundary debriefing on the game. The pair have both been criticised and praised throughout a rollercoaster first test for their tactics and performance.
The match has seen Cummins criticised for a patient and defensive approach, while Stokes was questioned over the earliest declaration in Ashes history as England pushed the game.
To make matters more interesting, Cummins hit the winning boundary this time around to help Australia win. However, at Headingley in 2019 it was Stokes that performed the heroics and won the match for England.

Cricbuzz reporter Bharat Sundaresan also pointed out a classy act from captain Cummins after the match. The bowler was conducting interviews with a number of reporters after the historic victory against England when the Aussie supporting group caught his attention.

The captain was in great spirits and couldn't wipe the smile off his face when he addressed the group. "You guys had to cop a lot from them didn't you," Cummins said, referring to The Barmy Army and the English crowd. "But we did it."

Cummins and fellow bowler Nathan Lyon combined to chase down the 281-run target to record the nation's highest-ever fourth innings run chase against England since 1948. After the match, Stokes admitted he was devastated at the defeat, but wasn't going to change his approach to captaincy.
"It's not a psychological blow at all. We've lost but if you look at the way we've played, compared to how the last few Ashes series have gone, it proves what we're capable of doing against Australia.
"Losing sucks but the way we applied ourselves literally from ball one proves we're able to stand up to Australia... We've got four games left and that's what we're going to be concentrating on."
