NRL star's touching tribute in memory of young boy

NRL star Josh Dugan is going to shave off his mullet to help raise money for a young friend who died last year.

The Sharks star has been sporting the mullet this year but on Monday took to social media to announce the fundraiser, which will go towards Bear Cottage where his friend Gabe spent his final few weeks.

Dugan said he will pick one member who donates money to do the honours and chop off the mullet next month.

The NRL star has already raised more than $1,000 in a few hours since the announcement.

Dugan spent time last year raising money for Gabe and his family and dedicated the rest of his 2018 season to his young friend after he died.

Bears Cottage is the only children’s hospice in New South Wales.

The initiative provides care and laughter for young children with terminal illnesses towards the end of their life.
