Mitchell Moses cops backlash after shock confession about partner and daughter

Mitchell Moses has copped a raft of backlash after admitting he's only changed his 11-month-old daughter's nappy once. The Parramatta Eels haflback welcomed daughter Aspyn with fiancee Bri in September last year, however he didn't attend the birth because the Eels were playing final in the preliminary in North Queensland.

Moses missed Aspyn's birth as he helped steer the Eels into the grand final, where they lost to the Panthers one week later. Discussing life as a father on Triple M radio last weekend, Moses made the eye-opening confession that he hasn't exactly been pulling his weight when it comes to nappy duty.

Appearing on the 'Saturday Scrum' program, Moses was asked by Ryan Girdler: “You’re at least changing nappies?” Moses replied: “No, I haven’t Girds. I can’t do it.

“I did one when she was born, because the nurse pretty much came in and made me do it so I felt like I had to, but that was the only time. Like I said, my missus is over everything, she’s very good. I’m very lucky to have her.”

Girdler responded: “Mate, of course you can (change nappies). Come on, roll the sleeves up brother, you’re missing out.”

Tony Squires commented about Moses' praise for his wife, saying: “The more you say that, the less impressive it sounds.” Moses reiterated: “I’m very lucky to have her.”

Needless to say, Moses' confession has been completely savaged on social media, with fans calling on the NSW State of Origin player to pull his finger out and do his bit. Moses will have a lot more time to help out around the house after suffering a season-ending cheekbone fracture against the Broncos.

Parramatta need a miracle to make NRL finals

With just two rounds remaining in the regular season, the Eels would seemingly need a miracle to make the finals. Entering Round 26 they are in 11th spot on the ladder on 26 points, but just two points behind the eight-place Rabbitohs. They would need to produce a monumental upset against the Panthers on Thursday night to keep their season alive - but they'd have to do it without Moses - before a bye in Round 27.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Eels coach Brad Arthur conceded his side "weren't up to it" this year after making the grand final in 2022. "There were plenty of games there where we had our chances or we had a moment we could've turned into something," Arthur said.

"We're only talking about maybe another two or three wins. We started the season with 0-3 and we were in a position to win those games, too. I'm just disappointed for everyone involved with the club. I'm disappointed for the players, disappointed for our members and fans."

Arthur insisted the disappointing campaign would not deter the Eels going forward. "The boys tried really hard this year. We had plenty of fight, we just weren't up to it," he said.

"I know how hard they tried. It wasn't good enough. We have to take responsibility for that. We've got to get around working through it in the pre-season and be ready to go next year. But we haven't given up. We're not giving up."
