The incredible family love driving Coote to GF glory
It's been an emotional ride for the Coote family after Cowboys star Lachlan was forced to move 2000km away to continue his NRL career.
Lachlan will line up at fullback for North Queensland on Sunday, bidding to win his second premiership ring after the Cowboys' maiden title in 2015.
But for a long time the Penrith Panthers were the only club he knew.
Coote played 83 games for the Panthers from 2008-2013, but was forced to relocate North when was told he was no longer wanted at Penrith.
It was a move that meant he had to leave his incredibly supportive family in Sydney.
"We're very proud, probably too proud to say," Coote's mum Aileen told 7News.
"He was pushed (by Penrith) but it's done him a big favour going up there."
As for dad Bruce, he can't wipe the smile off his face thinking about the prospect of his son becoming a two-time premiership winner.
"He's s a tough little fella with some of the knocks he gets," Bruce said.
Lachlan, now a father himself, is one of seven kids, and his siblings are also beaming with pride.
"I'll be getting goosebumps (on Sunday)," brother Nathan said, before managing to slip in a loving sledge.
"He's lucky he's got footy really because he wasn't quite the smartest kid."
There's another date circled in October - Lachlan is set to marry his fiancee Laura - but for now the focus is on Sunday.
And his wonderful family will undoubtedly be his biggest fans.
