An 18-year-old woman has been charged with distributing a prohibited visual recording and will face Brisbane Magistrate’s Court in September, over the alleged leak of ‘revenge porn’ against Brisbane Broncos player Kotoni Staggs.

A complaint was made to Queensland Police after the tape was allegedly leaked earlier this week, with the Broncos quickly rallying around Staggs as he fronted the NRL’s Integrity Unit.

According to the Courier Mail’s chief court reporter Alexandria Utting, the woman charged by police is 18-year-old McKenzie Robinson.

Robinson reportedly contacted Staggs on Instagram, with the pair sleeping together soon afterwards.

The report also says Robinson allegedly asked Staggs if she could film their encounter.

Afterwards, she allegedly contacted Staggs repeatedly before he asked her to stop several week ago.

Broncos coach Anthony Seibold discussed the case during a Wednesday press conference, in which he said he had full faith in Staggs and that the club would look to support the 21-year-old through the process.

“My understanding is there is nothing Kotoni has done wrong. I don’t want to prejudice anything further there, I will leave it to the NRL to handle,” Seibold said.

“Kotoni has had an interview with the Integrity Unit this morning.

“As a club and as his coach, I have no further comment to make, he has done that this morning and we will leave it to the integrity unit to handle going forward.”

Seibold said it had been a challenging week for Staggs, but added that the 21-year-old was excited for this weekend’s match against South Sydney.

Staggs lead the Broncos onto the training field on Wednesday.

“It’s really challenging for Kotoni,” Seibold said.

“I don’t want to draw too much attention to the case because I don’t think it’s the right thing to do, but Kotoni’s welfare is at the forefront of what we are trying to do.

“He will play, he is excited about playing on Friday night and we will put some support around him there.”

Seibold's date with his former club South Sydney and former Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett will also mark the return from injury of David Fifita, while Matt Lodge (bone bruising in knee) has been named in the squad but not in the 17 as he attempts to prove his fitness.
